@GMCP800

"Do you all have to make fun of me? Is that the way you do in England.....when somebody has a problem, you make fun of him?
ok..."

There's always some idiots on every message board. The problem with the internet is it puts you in contact with people you'd rather avoid.

Don't think that everyone in England is like that. It only takes a handful of idiots in a country of 50 million to give that impression. IMO if somebody chooses not to believe you (and it's true that there are a lot of fake posts made) then they should just keep quiet, unless they have specific evidence to support their view.

Yes, that is correct, but I believe in trusting people until I'm presented with a reason not to. There's no point in being mean to people just incase they are lying!

There was an interesting article about trust in New Scientist a while ago. There seems to be a hormone related to trust that affects our brains. While trust might seem to be not in the individual's interest, we are social animals and tests show that countries that are more trusting tend to be more prosperous. Here's a quote:

"And trust levels differ greatly between nations. The World Values Survey, based at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, has asked people in countries around the world, "Do you think strangers can generally be trusted?" The positive response rate varies from about 65 per cent in Norway to about 5 per cent in Brazil. Disturbingly, countries where trust is lower than a critical level of about 30 per cent - as is the case in much of South America and Africa - risk falling into a permanent suspicion-locked poverty trap."

People in the prosperous developed world tend to trust strangers. Interestingly religious people tend to be less trusting. The possible explanation for this is that people who trust others feel less need to turn to God.

@Vermania, I thought about saying this;

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

But i think its been used allready.

@Vermania

I have so much respect for people who judge a book by its cover. It's so very open minded!
