@scythe

kase ang web browsing di na kailangan ng wap gateway (obviously). kailangan lang dun ay setup yung GPRS mo at ang importante sa kanya ay yung APN lang, minsan yung DNS din..

baka sa WAP gateway lang nagkaka problema.

i just thought i should tell you this. just wanted to help. peace out

I don't think wap over GPRS using 'internet' APN is working. Maybe for sending pop3 email and Java applications that connect to a server, but like what I wanted to do with my T610, go to 'More Themes' or 'More Sounds' and download there and then...even using the internet APN, still no luck. I only get a communication error.

This means, we (Globe postpaid users) still won't be able to use charged GPRS to the fullest. What's the deal with that? Ain't that fair already? We browse/download, you charge. But why cant you?!

Unless there's a new setting already that I don't know of...is there? For sure, top employees of globe enjoy the FULL SERVICE of Wap and FOR FREE!!! Hope I'm dead wrong.

Better yet, provide a BETTER LOOKING WAP SITE! Something that SE users would also appreciate. You said browsing is for free, but hey...only few subscribers browse your site & don't even ask why. Do you know what you're actually trying to do here? Limiting the functions of our phones! I just wish globe employess are also limited to monochrome backlit phones!

I have friends who are nokia users and complain because your 'wap site' doesn't provide 'previews' like esato and some other known sites. It's like robbing money from them because they take the risk of downloading a P15 image, only to find out that it doesn't look good at all. Is that another marketing strategy?! Please!

The premise of my reply was on (a) using the internet APN for wap browsing and a possible work-around on the current set-up for those who would be willing to pay just so other wap sites could be accessed (b) with the use of a non-java enabled and non-smartphone GPRS enabled units (read: which could not accomodate web-browers, or similar apps). It has been suggested that the said APN would work and I just shared my experience and the possible reasons on why it should not, again, based on the contention above.

Also, I did not mention anything about internet browsing through a handheld. I just answered the query on using the internet APN as a might-be-possible-but-seemed-to-have-failed-bigtime alternative on browsing via WAP over GPRS. You are so right on the sidenote when you said na sa WAP gateway nagkakaproblema---kaya nga pinaguusapan kung pano ang work-around eh.

I had made it a point to read previous posts before airing out anything anywhere anywhen. I just thought I should answer though late na. Peace out din!

oops, i got it. i just think there's no way for you to make it work, paid or not, unless globe itself make it work. uhmmm... yun na nga, kung irita ka na sa globe, you still have choices. pero, that's totally out of my business.
