i dunno....there appears to be a slight curvature to the vertical edges on the top half of the structure, but you've really got to be looking for it.

I dont think these 2 examples are good examples - since there arent really any straight lines in the areas that would curve.

The curving effect would appear on the edges of the sides when taken in normal portraitmode.

The curving effect shows best when pictures are taken in landscapemode instead of the default portraitmode - try taking some pictures where you turn the camera sideways - and make sure to then have some straight lines in the top and buttom of the picture.

Also notice that even when you could say that these 2 pictures look reasonable ok - they arent really.
Considering that these pictures are taken under optimal (bright sunny outdoors) conditions, which removes the worst amount of noice, they still are rather unsharp, lowdetailed, and have a considerable amount of colorblending and ghosting. Considering the conditions under which these pictures were taken, they really are not that good. Had I taken the same pictures using for instance my A735 they would have looked alot better I assure you.

Also notice how pictures taken with the T610 are default taken in portraitmode - where every normal camera (and other camphones) takes pictures in landscapemode per default. This is kinda odd.

i wouldn't say it takes portrait by default. it takes in whatever orientation you hold the phone. i also think that the ghosting and blurring is in part an artifact of the photographer - i.e. how steady their hands are while taking the shot. i have seen some reasonably good photos taken with a t610 (there's a whole thread for daily camshots over at HoFo). however, i personally think there is some minor curvature still visible. it's akin to the same effect you get through a peephole in the front door, but much less severe.

all in all, i think you're being too harsh on what is really only a toy/novelty (although why it couldn't be at least as good as an mca-20 or 35 i don't know).

the effect is called "sphereical aberation" and is to be expected from such a small camera.

if it makes you all feel better, the hubble space telescope suffered from a similar efect (due to a tiny error in the mirror) meaning that NASA had to send up an early repair mission.

i can only assume that the hubble space telescope cost more than the one in your t610?
