It´s a big miss that "Tom Bombadill" and "Saruman destroying Shire" isn´t in the film!

I feel both of these elements would not work on film. From a movie stand point the end of ROTK drags enough as it is, adding the scouring of the Shire would only make this much, much worse. As for Bombadil, just try to imagine that on film. How would you even cast an actor? Not only would it be extreemly difficult to transfer to film, but even in the best possible case (which Jackson could most likley produce) I feel it would still distrupt the main plot of the story too much to warrent keeping it in the film.

This sunday I was on the Lord of the Rings Exhebition. There it was supposed to be a model of Orthanc. But in the space where it should be there instead was a note that said:
This miniature is currently being used for filmeg The Return Of The King. It will soon be back.
Wicked, ay! Wonder what scenes they are recording?

IMO the omission of tom bombadil from the first film was no loss whatsoever. as a character he served no purpose, and completely ruined the book for me when i read it.
i would have liked to see the resolution of the saruman plotline but Peter Jackson omitted it because he felt it would be re-finishing the second movie rather than continuing with the third. and it would have been difficult to justify the razing of the shire after half of the characters involved were omitted from the first film.
my only gripe is that the film could have easily ended at least five times in the last half-hour. the reason it seemed to drag was that they kept hitting a logical conclusion to the film, then kept going. great for the purists, but not so great for those less familiar with the book. that, and for no apparent reason aragorn seemed to gain about 20 kg.

I wouldn't go that far. His interaction with the Ring is very interesting in my opinion.

There were enough changes made for the general public already, the ending absolutley had to resolve the characters.

I can really see why scouring of the Shire was cut now as everyone complains about the end being too long as it is.

You should see Peter Jackson's first few movies, Bad Taste and Meet the Feebles, they're great, he's come a long way though, you can see they're done on a smaller budget. He's doing a remake of King Kong next. Oh yeah and how about all that great scenery in the LOTR movies. I heard the trilogy is going to be released in one big set of DVD's, with about 25 hours of viewing.

Does anyone have any news on the extended DVD yet? I've heard rumours about it being 4 hours 15 minutes long and that it'll include Gandalf confronting Saruman at Orthanc and scenes from the Houses of Healing.

As I said some posts ago. The miniature Orhtanc model that was supposed to be at the Lord Of The Rings exhebition in january, was "Being used in filming The Return Of The King".
Sounds promising

Two chapters that we know will be included in the extended edition are The Voice of Saruman and In The Houses of Healing. Pictures from the HoH were some of the first to be leaked online showing Aragorn with Éowyn. Another part that you probably have seen bits of that didn't make it into the theater cut was Gandalf's confrontation with the Morgul-king. The main trailer shows a shot of the fell beast landing in front of Gandalf and Pippin on Shadowfax.
