Im sorry but while those pictures do look better than any VGA camera, they simply look poor in comparion to SE S700 pictures, or the other Japanese 1.3mp camera phones from SE.

I think they even look worse than the 7610's.

See how blurry the pictures are ? you dont get that with the other 1.3mp camera phones.

BTW, the names etaab, not etaam, and i certainly dont have a SE bias, i just happen to prefer their phones at this point in time.

lol, sorry for misspelling you name, Etaab.
Well, I've tested many upcoming megapixel cameraphones in CeBIT2004 e.g. S700, D710, S65, T5100 etc. IMO, I'm afraid to say that whilst I was taking the same shot for comparing with the pic taken with my GX30, non of them seem to have as good picture as the GX30 honestly (at least on screen). However, S700 seems to have the best screen amongst those mobile. Wait until it's out and we will see. Cheers.

We dont have to wait, simply search on sites such as mobileburn for specimen pictures taken with other manufacturers phones, and you'll see how poor the GX30's pictures compare to the rest.

The best ive seen are the ones taken with the three SE 1.3mp phones, and the Samsung. The Samsungs especially had good colour depth compared to the other id seen, but that might be something to do with the actual scene being photographed, and not just the camera itself.

Theres a thread on Esato somewhere comparing the 1.3mp camera phones quality, i cant remember where it is, but if you find it, compare them to the GX30's and you'll see how poor they are.

Still the best camera there is out now though.

@Marcus John:
Marcus, I really agree with you there, why is everyone on this forum so SE bias! lol. They just won't accept another phone may be just as good or better!

@Other ppl:
Anyways, I'm really pleased with it, and compared to other phones I've actually TESTED in the shop, it iseems to me much better camera quality But if your kinda brand loyal, I understand... ...

They are the best quality you can get right now, but im sorry to say, IMHO they just look like sharper VGA images. It makes me question whether the GX30 has a 1.3mp camera in it at all, or whether all Sharp have done is put in a good quality VGA with some software interpolation.

Of course im probably wrong. But when i compare your pictures, and other GX30 pictures like these:

http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Page=20&Id=758

with pictures taken with other 1.3mp phones, you can see the difference. These pictures were taken using the SE A5404, which is only available in Japan:

http://www.mobileburn.com/gallery.jsp?Page=3&Id=726

Compare the two. See how blurry the GX30's image is, even on close objects such as the orange cable next to the childrens climbing frame is all pixelated, which is something you'd expect on distant objects only.

Again id like to point out, that im certainly not biased towards SE, but their and other manufacturers IMO have far superior megapixel cameras in their handsets, including the Nokia 7610 !

I thought those pictures looked decent for a phone camera, although I admit the camera isn't my main priority when choosing a phone.

Just been reading some reviews of the GX30 as I've been tempted to get one to replace my S55 (backup to my P900 which is still unrivalled) but the GX30 seems to be a letdown in so many areas, especially the bluetooth and SD/MMC which is what initially attracted me to the phone.
