What kind of material is this plexi actually? Will it be used at pda or others too?

Plexi is a common name for clear plastic material. Basically, companies develop these materials with own methods and aditives. Every structure of these polymer molecules slightly differ and has nothing saying name. Plastic can have better characteristics than steel e.g. the one used in Vertu phones. Very resistant, lightweight...etc. But quality equals to price. But as you've said - simply plexi ;-)
