I have had a response from Orange and basical they are stating that it would need to be looked into but there is no dead line to when they would be able to give me a reply. I have decided enough is enough and have now taken my phone back to the Carphone Wharehouse under the 14 days return and got my money back. Don't think Orange is going to change their view on the way they have created the phone. Orange supposed to be friendly face and understanding what the custmer needs but who would make a phone where you would have four different ways of starting the camera on the front of a phone? Are they selling a phone or camera. Good luck to all the rest that have decided to stick it out, but I don't feel a company should be able to tell you how something should look.

I just had a thought regarding the missing shortcuts options on the K700i.
Earlier SE phones used to have a method of configuring the shortcuts "menu" using serial AT commands.
If those commands are still there - could they be used to configure the shortcuts - including (presumably) configuring the joystick command(s) since (at least on the T610) the left joystick just uses the first shortcut command.
Is there anyone out there with a K700 on orange that has a PC with HyperTerminal on it and a cable/BT/IR connection that would care to try a couple of commands?
Cheers

I have exactly the same problem, and am really angry, but the new firmware is coming very soon if it is not here already, which should satisfy us all!
~I accidentally just started another thread the same as this one~
Anyway I still like the K700i, but from changing from a T610 with practically no functions removed and the more menu on the idle screen, I really miss that, and the stupid mini menu, for phone book and orange world and messages, does anyone know how to get rid of that, or is that irremovable as well?!?!?!?

OK
You need to find the port that "serial port 1" uses from the BT dongle to the phone and then setup HyperTerm to use that port directly. Set it to something like 9600 baud.
If it works, sending "AT" should get back "OK"
If you get that far - try the following and save the output
at*emlr=? Should get back OK
at*ecmw=? Should get back something like *ECMW: (1-15) then ok
Did you follow that ok?

Darn, just read your reply mwright.
I've just this minute sent the phine back to the supplier for a replacement. If the problem is still there on the new phone I'll have a go...actually even if it is fixed I'll still have a go!!
Anyone else willing to try this while I wait for the new phone?
