Yes, Globe GPRS WAP browsing used to be free before Aug. 19, 2004; but only few wapsites were available. After August 19, more sites were opened but it costs 15cents/kb. And the sites available before for free, now have charges. e.g. my sister opened Yahoo! Mail, red 6 mails and it cost her Php90. Quite expensive. For Sun, only CNN and ClicktheCity are not accessible.

For.me,it's.the.same.as.not.being.free.at.all.for.globe.gprs.Imagine.all.wap.browsing.(even.in.myglobe.wapsite.links).without.content.download.have.charge.It's.as.if.globe.only.encourages.tones.and.mms.downloads.Since.these.are.the.only.ones.that.are.free.for.browsing.

@joberns What you did was right but you have to wait within 24 hours for the actual activation. Just monitor your GPRS from time to time to see if you are already connected. Enjoy!

@mcbernz007
you should've specified your network, but i'd assume its sun.
double check your settings, if you have the correct apn, your phone will connect to GPRS, but it doesn't necessarily mean you'll be able to browse/surf right away, you must have the correct i.p address too.
(...if your apn is mms, it will still connect to GPRS but wont be able to surf for it is exclusively for mms as it implies, while minternet, can connect either, but could or couldn't possibly surf/browse.)
so... your issue "might not" be about connecting to GPRS...
