I got banned for three days. I posted on all of the topics in the general forum and my name was on every one. I don't know why I did it. I'll never do it again though, the 3 day ban was horrible, I was craving posting.

I tried to edit my post this morning and when I clicked on submit, then I had a message, that I'm banned and for questions I must contact admin. Man I was so . I mean, why? I didn't nothing. Then I tried to login and I was here. I was so happy, that it was probably some error. That was a terrible one minute for me.

As already posted by masseur and others, a violation of forum rules and/or the terms of service may get you banned.

The effect of a ban is the inability to post in the discussion forums. A ban that is more encompassing is an IP ban, and this is rarely used as it may affect innocent users from logging into the site.

Users banned temporarily can still read the discussions (without having to log in), or login into their accounts and access their PMs.

Masseur had been doing an excellent job as a moderator. As a community member (before and after he was made a moderator), he had made lots of contributions to a wide-ranging discussions. As a moderator, he has been very pro-active and seemingly omnipresent in all sections of the board.

As for "'pleasing' 40K ++ members of esato is quite a task", I'm sorry to say that that is not included in the job description of a moderator. Some things aren't made to be always fun and easy, and being a mod is one of them.

Quote:Many are saying that @masseur is getting 'strict' specially a couple of months after he was elevated to where he is now, at times I really do understand his job here as a moderator - it's really a 'no joke' - 'pleasing' 40K ++ members of esato is quite a task, personally speaking of all the mods here he's the 'strictest' of them all, specially when locking the threads-abruptly. But, yes, just who will not initiate the very cautious move but him At least, there is some normalcy being felt here at esato when @masseur's around !

I hope that clears it up for you. And I will second masseur's call to keep out names and personalities from this thread, and keep the discussion in general.

I think that if a member is faced with disciplinary/misconduct action it should be between that person and whichever mod is deciding to take up the matter in question to ban the member. Its not up to any of us to question their motives/reasons as guidelines/rules have been clearly set in place for us to follow. If a member wants to make their position public they should petition the moderators who then must agree to it being made available. This message was posted from a K700i

if this were my site I'd make it punishable by a 4 week ban to question the actions of the mods in public when someone else gets banned

@Staz081277

I couldn't agree more. There is nothing wrong with discussion on issues, which affect us all and of course that includes forum rules, but I feel that it is something of a bad show to openly call into question the actions of the moderators, the matter really should be between the member in question and the moderators. Esato isn't a democracy, the moderators are not accountable to the members and I think that people forget that sometimes.

What will be your take on this mates . . . I personally experienced being cursed by one of the 'oldie' member here at esato yesterday, who I guess is just being fed-up (thru and thorugh) of me posting '@' at each and before of every member's username (which I guess is none of their business anymore, as it is my style of just directing my post to that certain member/s involved with having a 'definitive touch) ! 'H E' blatantly cursed me by saying 'd*mn you' right in front of my face Will there be 'NO' sanction for that kind of barbaric attitude, a rebuke, a warning or worst - a suspension, I guess is just deemed necessary here A public/private (pm) apology will satisfy me, as what I am routinely used in doing so as well, when I have offended some of our co-members here !
Feedbacks . . . people ! ! !
