Well, all my friends are on R1A30. So can't really compare here.

OK, an experiment here, let me know your outcome:

Tap on the message icon and tap on Create SMS (with the flip open). At this stage, do not enter the recipient number yet. Instead, type in the message using the virtual keyboard. After finishing the message, click on the “↑” symbol located next to “Done”. This will move the cursor from the message body to the “To:” field. Enter the recipient’s phone number now and notice that as soon as the first number is entered, the virtual keyboard will display the message that was type in before rather than the number that was just entered. If this was ignored and we continue to type in the remaining numbers, an error message will display saying “Program Messages. Reason code ETEXT. Reason number 12”. The only option that could be selected is continue and if that was selected, the messages menu will be closed.

I experienced the above. Anyone else? For those with this problem, kindly include your firmware here. Wonder whether this has been solved in R2A17?

Tried your little experiment & it DOES give me that error! It crashes the Messages program! (I'm still on the R1A29, so can't tell you about the R2A17)

Anyone bugged SE about a 910i update service yet?

well that wasn't there last time I looked. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work right yet because when I enter my CDA and its supposed to tell me what the latest firmware version is for my phone it just says "the latest organiser version is ." without actually sayig what the latest version is!

yeah, not that I can think of anything wrong with my P910 that should require new firmware...

I do require new firmware. Ive noticed a couple of things that need to be fixed. And to tell u the truth i feel that the P910 could be slightly faster. @ times i feel its sluggish.

Without fear I decided to try the update service, ignoring all warnings etc.

I got as far as the upgrade program downloading the new software to my PC and the program starting the installation but then it complains of communication problem and the upgrade is aborted. After removing the battery the phone starts again as if nothing has happened.

Oh, well, I just have to wait until it becomes official then...

I also went ahead and attempted to update. The update service downloaded the updates to my HDD, then the program went ahead to toggle on and off the phone. The phone toggled off, but didn't turn back on in the standby mode, where the red light is on. (Hence the communication error, of being unable to connect) Then the update service aborts and asks you to pull your batt/reinsert and see if you phone is okay and able to restart OR is messed up so that you have to begin recovery mode.

It most apparent that something in the javascript of the update service isn't quite right (I don't program, so I can't play with it) yet, so have to wait until SE is done with whatever its doing.

It sucks cuz I have in my "C:/Program Files/Sony Ericsson/Update Service/software-data" the updated files.. now if there was only a way to get it onto my phone! (So close, yet so far!)

The 6 files are:
HL1_162041_000000_0000_R2A17
HL1_162042.ssw_000000_0000_R4A006
HL1_CDA162005-3.bin_000000_0000_R2A16
HL1_CDA162005-3.img_000000_0000_R2A16
HL1_fload2_040507_1549_R2A051
HL1_ramlite_030320_1718_002

(at least those were the appropriate ones for my CDA162005/3)

I guess I'll see if anyone else has better luck or knows exactly when SE will get their update site fully operational.
