I'm in Seattle now,..well actually outside in Snohomish.

And I'm going to Las Vegas (Comdex) on the 20th of November,..will stay untill the 23rd,..actually going back that day.
I'll be on the Nextlink booth no.4030A,..its in the "Wireless" part of the north Exhibition hall.

I have brought my own phone,..I've been looking around, and I basically think that I'll go for Cingular,..just one of their Prepaid things, as they also seems to cover Las Vegas

Havent quite figured out yet just how to do this,..but I guess I could go buy a start-kit with a "cheap"phone,..and then simply use that simcard with my own SE-T68i from Denmark.

Another thing,..would I still be able to use the phone with the prepaid card, in e.g. Vegas,..when I bought the PrePaid-kit in Seattle ?

Wouldnt there be some sort of "restriction" on prepaid-cards ?

Please give me an advise on exactly how to proceed with this

Regards

Jan

Hi Jan, welcome to the US! I hope you enjoy your stay.

I'm sad to hear the dates you'll be in Vegas - I wanted to suggest we fellow Esato men meet up there. I was also going to be there until the 20th, but on Friday I signed a contract for a new full-time job. It starts on Monday the 18th, same day as Comdex. I'm still planning on going to Vegas but it will only be on the weekend before the main event starts.

As for your pre-paid questions, take a look at a recent thread where I posted the Cingular pre-paid info:

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=12559&forum=31

There aren't any restrictions on where you can use the pre-paid card, you can take it from Seattle to Las Vegas. And you don't need to buy the phone, just get the $45 starter kit at any Cingular store. Details are in the above thread.

Good luck in the US - I hope you do and see everything on your agenda. And have fun at Comdex!

Jan, glad to hear you are in the US.

Going with Cingular is probably a good choice. They have great coverage in Las Vegas. Roamed on Cingular when I was there and experienced clear calls as well as fast GPRS.

Are you going to be at the Bluetooth Expo in San Jose (10-12 Dec)?

I live in seattle and work downtown. GSM and GPRS coverage are very good for the US. I use T-Mobile, but Cingular and AT&T are also supposed to be good here. I have good coverage at good and work. Voicestream used to be based in Seattle, so they built a good network here. Hope this helps. This post was posted from a T39

Also, I have never experienced a dropped call... Yet. I have been pleased with T-Mobile and their customer service. Also, I get signal in smaller areas like Port Angeles and Sequim. This post was posted from a T39

Jh67,
There are several authorized dealers in the Bellevue area. The closest company owned location to Bellevue is the Redmond store where I work. While prepaid is a good choice, you may still want to consider postpaid service based on cost and features. Since you are providing your own phone, you can sign up for a cingular account with no contract. The benefits of that include much cheaper rates, availability of data services, and the ability to roam on other providers. Prepaid will work in Nevada with Cingular, but you will not be able to roam on ATT in the Seattle area with the agreement Cingular has unless you are using postpaid. Since you have your own phone the you would not need to pay anything to set up your post paid service except the $36.00 activation fee that comes on the first bill. Like I said in a previous post, feel free to email me with any questions. Hope this helps.
