Nah, I'd prefer to be upstairs, but I don't want to do anything i'd regret, and most of the people at our parties are from school, and it was awkward enough when 2 people make out for a while, let alone "go upstairs"...

Ok just walk up to her and chat to her, dont be fake be yourself, in the end of the day if she dont like who you are she aint worth it. Ask her to cinema (classicly cheesey i know) but its a perfect first date because you dont have to keep finding conversations you get to watch the film and think of what ya going to talk about, dont be to full on, dont buy her a dozen red roses on the fiirst date she mite think u have marrige on ur mind!

Haha yeah, all good advice, but there has to be a "ice breaker". Some call these "pick up lines" and make up really cheesy things like, making the universal sign for "come here" then whispering into their ear, "I made you come with one finger, imagine what I can do with 2". DON'T use these.
Oh and someone mentioned watching "Hitch". Sure, watch it, but seriously, as soon as a method like that is published, it becomes un-attractive. I mean, if you were to do the whole "Hello honey" trick (see hitch to know what I mean) you need a very special scenario.
How and when do you "break the ice"? You need something to first say to her etc...
