Some of them have terrible branding. Orange as just as bad too - my friend cannot use MP3s, shortcuts and send ringtones from his Orange branded K700i.
That's a load of rubbish, Cannot use Mp3's yes you can.
Anyway, the Silver one looks very nice in my opinion, I cannot wait to attempt to get my hands on one of these phones.

I have to agree with anyone complaining about branding of any kind.
networkoperators have to understand that most customers couldent care less about the operators. Forget the idiotic loyalty question.
Forget operator brand loyalty. Networkoperators are a nescesary evil, nothing else. I dont care who my networkoperator is, as long as I get delivered what I pay for, and only what I deside to pay for.
All your commercial live crap etc. have one purpose only, to generate traffic and $$$. Naturally I dont want to have your stupid restrictions or changes to the specific phone I have chosen to buy for reasons desided by me, naturally I dont want your stupid shortcuts everywhere trying to trick me into stupid expensive wap services, naturally I would never buy an mp3 ringtone from you when I can make them for free myself and naturally I dont want you to try and force me to, I dont want your graphics everywhere, or your changes to the operating system like the mp3 restriction or shortcut changes etc etc.
The idea of the customer just buying a service or a function and thus does not care which hardware is used and therefore standardising all handsets to look alike is nonsense and only a networkoperators wet dream. This is only to minimize costs for the operator. I havent ever met any real live person who did not want to have their own saying on which car they drive, which phone they use, what television to buy, what close to wear, which furnitures to use etc etc. People dont just want a function, people are not robots, we dont just want to keep warm, we want to deside what close to wear, we dont just want functions, we want products, products to distinquise who we are as persons, products for status, products to make our lives more fun or interesting or whatever reason. We want individualisme.
I am an adult, I choose a specific phone for good reasons and after carefull consideration. Under no circumstances do I want network operators to tell me how my phone should look, or function, or which services I am able to use.
Fortunetely I do live somewhere where I can choose to buy totally unbranded and unlimited - and I will allways do that no matter what contractoffers networkoperators may spring on me.

i thawt u get branded phones for very cheap compared to the unbranded price rite? or maybe soemtimes even free?
am i right?
well if i am right, i think the company is totally justified in branding the phone, customizing its firmware, etc etc...
the logos on the phone work as advertising for the company...
so du the wap shortcuts, etc..
how can anyone who gets a phone for much less than the unbranded price, expect it to be the same as the unbranded features....
then again, if im wrong bout gettin it for cheaper, then this branded thing is total s#%&
i dont kno bout these branded schemes, here in india the operators dont brand phones...we have to buy the phone separately ourselves...
but branded phones, which are brought from abroad and unlocked are available, for cheaper (illegitimately), than the ones sold legitimately in the country....

why do people feel the need to repeat all this stuff EVERY time the word VODAFONE is mentioned?
I must have read these same posts in a hundred different threads
at the end of the day you pay your money and you make your choice! because these companies are unlikely to change their ways for the forseeable future
my choice is always unbranded and I am sure I pay normal prices for that rather getting them a little cheaper

Nicely said
Vodafone have fantastic ranges of phones, services, network capabilties, network coverage and customer services.
Just because they brand their phones doesn't make them all that bad, you have to weigh out the positives and negatives!

@axxxr - if you want to buy an unbranded phone at full price, I don't think any network operator will particularly mind as you will still have to go to one of them to use your phone. They save on the phone subsidy. I would say they don't give a monkey's either!
@batesie - I think you are mistaken, to get all customers to configure and flash their own phones is hardly thinking of the customer. Pre-configured phones is a step forward for useability, although you have to put up with the branding for that service. It may not be for you, but you are not the majority (and neither are most of us at Esato).
All those subsidises on a phone, the operators certainly don't want you to take it away and use it on a competitor's network. If you want unbranded (if it's available), pay the extra and stop complaining. You won't get branding, but you won't get any guarantees it'll work with all the features on the network. Case in point is the Nokia 8310 and O2, who had so many problems with an early launch that they had to recall, re-test and re-distribute all the early faulty handsets that didn't work with GPRS on their network. If you don't care, that's fine.
I am neither pro-Vodafone or against it. It's just the way Vodafone, (in fact all the networks) work.
The bottom line is tough. You guys really do complain too much!

I gotta say I agree with Copia on all points. Try for a moment and picture the average Vodafone customer. Wanna bet he's very pleased to buy a phone that comes out of the box pre-configured and ready to offer
exactly that what he's seen advertised all along?
He can go online immediately. he ends up on the Vodafone Live! portal but that's exactly what he expected and it's npot a negative.
When he's unhappy with his phone (tech failure or something) he goes back to the Voda store and finds his model is sold out. So he gets offered another model. he switches it on anfd thankfully the menu is almost exactly the same, so he knows his way around the phone immediately.
Bottom line: by far the largest portion of mobile phone users worldwide do not only not mind branding, their experience would be
less satisfying if they would have to set up tehir own wap accounts, email accounts, MMS accounts and so on and so forth.
The idea that the esato members stand model for the largest group of vodafones customers is ludicrous!
But for those who wish to use vodafone network, there is always a choice to buy unbranded, so why not take it?

Its in our nature to complain. if we all accepted things for how they were... and anyway whats 'too much'?
A lot off us here at esato want to raise the already high standards in the world of mobile phone technology. Rather than just accepting phones as a way of calling one another we want them to be more as we all see the potential. So for someone to complain 'too much', is a good thing especially when the main reason vodafone impedes a handset from its 'stock functionality' is too make MORE money from people.
