its fine dropped mine in water, as long as the seal on the battery is good and the screws on the back are tight enough!

i dropped a SL45 down the toilet, bust the MMC card i had with it too.

I may have to try it with my faulty R310 to see how much water gets in.

Tried it. It leaked, but not very much got in.

I can see this thread ending up with a mention in the funniest and wittiest posts thread....

I knew a guy who fell of a boat with his company supplied mobile on belt clip; awkward to explain to the boss that.
I drop my phones all the time - only the K700i has survived so far!

my only phone death has been a "fell onto ground" style one as i (valiantly leapt) exited my vehicle to administer first aid at a roadside accident

i was ropable (the phone was 3 months old, bought outright, 6510 - hard to find in oz too)
but yeah, the two instance which fall outside the bounds that i've seen or heard were:

a friend of mine had a particularly annoying ringtone (he liked it, i though it was annoying). so we're at his mum's house and in the backyard with their two large german shepards. the phone goes off and the dog whips it out of fred's hands and chews it to bits in a matter of seconds... goodbye 7650

the other, which i did not witness was a friend of mine, working in defence, forgot to take his phone out when walking through the scanners at his work. the result was a 3310 with a screen full of garble

I took my Nokia 8310 cycling out in the peaks and it rained so hard we all got soaked. When we finally got out of the rain into the pub everything was dripping wet including the phone. As I took it apart water was actually running out of it. I took the battery out and left it to dry by taping it to my PC's PSU fan for a day and it was fine!

A friend of mine had a 3210 and dropped it when standing at a traffic light. It got run over by a car and when he picked it up the person he was talking to when he dropped it was still on the line!

What bothers me is I really can't see my S700i putting up with this kind of treatment. Ahhh... they don't make phones like they used to...
