yer so true. Same applies to people who take off there face of radio's and put them in the glove box! everyone does that im sure the thief's know this.
Its the old "put the radio on when we are on holiday so they think someone's in" situation!!
I cant get my Copier/printer to sit on my network what ever i do, its a right pain. I had a lot of problems with the firewalls on the PC/laptops aswell, they conected fine but they wouldnt see each other so we could share the internet but couldnt get share files/places. In the end i switched form a D-Link to a netgear on the recomendation of AOL and it all works fine.
Hardware firewall's are well and good but i dont completly trust them.
As you say Mas you can never be to carefull.

At present I just unplug to router when not in use.
I'd prefer some security measures but I'm not sure how.
