Why are you all going so mad about the Flight Mode? Its a complete waste of time! Regardless of how much you might try to convince your Air Steward or Hospital Nurse they're not going to let you use your phone on a plane / in a hospital anyway because its simply not worth the risk of what you're saying not being true.

And if you think that its going to save your battery when you want to listen to your music on the train or whatever it's actually not going to make that much of a difference. I charged my K750i about two days ago now and I've only used it with its radio features (e.g. making calls, sending texts, using GPRS), and the battery is still at 74%. How much difference do you think having radio on is going to make to your battery when you use it for listening to music? It's clear by the standby time that the communications between the phone and the network don't exactly use up that much power anyway do they?

I used to have a few of the SPV phones, and they all had the Radio Off / Flight Mode function and it was useless. It probably seems like a nice idea on paper, but like I said, no one believes you when you tell them when you're on a flight. The rule is "No mobile phones...period." And besides. you might as well just buy a walkman/iPod. Because by switching your Radio off thats exactly what the phone becomes at the end of the day isn't it? Seems a little silly to me to buy a phone and then miss all your calls and texts because you want to use it as a walkman.

@Aurial, you've got a point there about the missing calls and stuff..
but actually it doesn't really matter to me, when i'm expecting a call, i just turn the phone on..

and the battery life i can save is actually pretty nice (15hours is maybe exaggerated, but it will certainly be 8 hours or something) .. for example when your on vacation and don't have time to charge your phone or you just forget it..

also when biking to school in the morning i can just use the 'walkman' function instead of turning on the whole phone..

I hear what you are saying and we have the same user protection laws in Denmark as you do in Sweden, but i still beleive theres a big difference between installing an OS on a computer, and flashing firmware on a phone. When you buy a computer you buy the hardware, and the OS separately, they have no connection.
When you buy a phone where the OS is an onboard hardcoded firmware, its part of the phone, just like the hardware the phone is build of. Flashing it with a different firmware thats maybe not designed specifically for the hardware, has the same effect as opening the phone and changing the cpu. Both are operative changes to the product and both will void the warranty. Theoretically flashing with a firmware not designed specifically for this phone, could damage hardware, it could burn off cirquits, if the hardware that this firmware is intended for is somehow different. Like overclocking your cpu in the computer using overclocking software could toast the cpu or other parts of the motherboard. This would also void warranty.

Warranty in legal terms of any country, specifically dictates that you are not allowed to make any operative changes to the product.

If you buy a Volvo, and burn the engine because you add a turbo yourself, or change the software in the computer controlling the engine, that would also void warranty if the engine dies.

Im pretty sure no court in Sweden would say you are still under warranty if you toast a phone because you yourself has installed unauthorised firmware not designed for the phone.

numb is on the ball, the analogy you use is a little flawed arne.

It's like buying a gigabyte motherboard and flashing it with an abit bios because it gives an option that gigabyte don't.

The manufacturer would not accept a warranty claim on it because the internal operating software written to make the product go has been tampered with.

An OS is a choice, linux, windows, neither invalidate a motherboard warranty because they're usable over multiple platforms. (well more so in linux )

By installing a new OS you aren't invalidating anything.

By installing a new bios, you are. (and thats precisely what you're doing to these phones, rewriting them from the core up)

Thus if damaged, how can the manufacturer NOT blame the fact that "alien" software has been put on a device it is not intended for at all.

We can all argue that they're the same hardware platforms, but in the end if you place software on the phone that it is not expressly designed for, you are taking the responsibility - not the manufacturer.

Exactly the same as a P905 upgrade too. it may not be exactly the same haveware but you're still forcing alien software onto the phone.

After all, what would you say to if you rang them after doing a P905 upgrade saying "my bt headset doesn't work when I put your P910i software on my P900"

I wouldn't be offended if they hung up laughing.
