Another f**k up from SE.No wonder they are posting loses all the time.I wonder how much this one would affect their financial status.Surelly Sharp will overtake them too this year.

Sharp has many more problems in bluetooth than SE ..........

Nokia also has several models that most of the first batch phones hang. According to your logic, then Nokia will be out of market next year .....

Mines not crashed as such, but it does suffer from severe slow-downs frequently, almost pauses ...also when moving around the system, if done quickly, frequent screen corruption occurs.

Will pop into the o2 store at the weekend and get my name put down on the list methinks or at least get some more info from them as to their plans.

Thereīs got to be one in every thread.. SE Doomsday prophet, that is..
Nokias 6630, 6680 and 6230i seems less than stellar to me judging by other forums, but perhaps that doesnīt count? After all Nokias shelf life is around three months anyway, so who will care after this summer anyway, right
I pity the poor sods who bought 6630 just to have it exit stage left for the 6680 (who in turn will exit stage left for the N70 around the time it is time to recharge the 6680)
M-Rīs test of the N90 does not inspire confidence either IMO even if in all honesty it was a preproduction model they reviewed.
Bottom line: donīt gloat on other manufacturers problems, next time the laugh is on you with your new
In any case i miss the days when you opened the box and simply used the phone from day one til it was time for replacement (most of the time out of pure boredom), and that goes for all brands IMO. Quality control and proper development has taken a step back to the hysterical demand for new phones every month.

I thought you couldn't use the update service if the firmware is O2 customised. Wouldnt you need a specific O2 firmware to update your exisiting O2 firmware?

Clearly jinxed mine by posting saying it hadn't....just tried to make a call to find it crashed on the standby clock and had to remove battery...

Oh well...i've put my name down for a replacement with the O2 store i bought it at...they offered to exchange it for a different phone straight away and said they had withdrawn the phone from sale..nothing new ...

Not necessarily - with the K700i I had an o2 specific firmware, and updated using SEUS no problem.

No you can't say people either have all the problems or none of them, that's nonsense as you can plainly see from other topics in the forum. I have had no standby crashes yet I have had 2 bluetooth crashes.

Actually I don't think it is nonsense, although I will rephrase - a lot of people have a lot of the issues but many people have no issues at all.

My point essentially was that I don't think its a purely firmware issue - why would some people get the standby crash (and not just on O2 either - have seen it reported on Orange branded and SIM Free too) and others not at all. Why would others have major bluetooth issues and others have none at all? Why would some people have multiple reboots of the phone in a day and others not when performing exactly the same functions?

Software faults are generally (memory overwrites excepted) consistent and occur in every instance of a version of software under the same circumstances - something which is not happening here.

Well, if only some parts of the memory are corrupted, it can explain why some would have no problem while others may have major problems! And it doesn't mean it's hardware problem, it can be solved with a new firmware!

Let me tell you something that may help you understand: I'm an electronics engineer, and a few years back I had some C++ programming courses, and when we had made some errors with "pointers", the program would compile, but it would run on some computers and would give an error on other ones! It's because the pointers were not correctly initialized and were reading parts of the memory they shouldn't have, and if by luck there was no problematic data in that area of the memory, then the program would still run despite being corrupted...

So it's really possible that it's a firmware problem and not something more problematic!

According to the lady in the O2 store i spoke to on the phone, she says that i can bring the phone in now and they will either cancel the contract (you do have a 14 day cooling off anyway), or they will exchange for a different phone model...i personally didn't want to so she said that if i can put up with the phone until they get replacement stock they would exchange it for another one of the new stock.

She didn't know when they were getting them in though..
