Despite what Nokias unofficial PR agent above says.. It's true that all manufacturers have a hell of a time with firmware. Why are SE's more commonly buggy? Because this is an SE forum. Goto any specialised forum and each will appear about as trusty as the Exxon valdeze carrying oil any great distance of more than a meter or two.

You only have to look at the K750i threads to see that some poeple have no issues at all while others do.

@Gigs: The point here is that there are more complaints than usual for K750i, on this forum at least. This does mean something. Also the fact that some operator are no longer selling this phone for a while is also proof that something's wrong. Manufacturers are under constant pressure to deliver more phones with more functionality and have a harder time fighting bugs before launch. However, it is a completely wrong attitude to use this as an excuse. As a customer, one expects a bug-free phone.

@Gigs

yes. we all know that every manufacturers has it fair share of firmware bugs but for a non-smartphone like K750 to freeze up while phone is idle is really very bad indeed. (if it freezes on you while u r playing with it then it is not as bad)

This is a quality problem SE has to address it. this issue will not go away by bashing other phone makers.

you can go to nokia boards and count how many people are complaining that a specific nokia model froze up while the phone is not being used or left idle.

i will be pretty pissed off if i bought a phone and i kept worrying that it will hang/froze while in my pocket. it may not have frozen on you yet but you know it can happen because other people already encounter the problem. The phone is like broken at the time u bought it and u can't use it with confident until the next firmware update.

What a sorry state.

You forget that many Nokia phones are network, country etc. specific. There are quite a few crap nokias I notice as i browse through this cpw mag, sure there are some top ones but they're only a few. considering nokia are a more established company, larger, etc. then they have a 'right' to release many more phones, with high specs. but even if there is a 3:1 ratio of phones from nokia to sony ericsson, the specs are the same. so nokia may release three two megapixel phones, and sony ericsson may release just one, the sony ericsson phone is still as good or better than any of the three nokias released.

it all comes down to who is bigger, who has more support, more market share. sony ericsson don't want to waste money in releasing loadsa new phones that won't sell, they concentrate their expertees on a model at a time. so even though nokia may have hundreds of phones out there, the sony ericsson phones, not in ratio but in comparison of technology and capabilties, are still right up there at the top!

Can't be 6:1.

SE have 17 if not 18 phones for release this year so Nokia cannot possibly have 102!

SE 2005 models :

J200
T290
K300
Z800
K600
V600
J300
D750
K750
W800
K608
J210
Z520
S600
W600

+ 2, maybe 3 new announcements in September.

Benq-Siemens is coming with 35 new phones this year! The markets are hardening! But S-E is not the looser! I think the looser will be the bricket phones i.e. over 100g weight. This message was posted from a Z1010
