over here (Malaysia) we folks are charged a decent RM0.15 or USD0.039473684 per sms.......but we're still bitchin to the telcos to reduce it

cingular wireless(USA) sms package on prepaid is .5c and .10c on postpaid anywhere in the world. i just got promoted and i pay .83c/unlimited minutes and txt messaging... i got a t-mobile package too for $10.00 unlimited txt worldwide. :-)
