i know this topic is old, but i wanted to get my nokia problem out here... i would never buy another nokia as long as i live!!! their screen quality is poop. i thought my GF's cheap nokia was jst low quality because it was cheap, so i bought here a higher end one, and the screen is still poop. maybe it's because i have 18/20 vision, but the pixels are way spread apart, and the screen is horrible. even my t616 had higher screen quality.
also the UI sucks. SE is so much better, nokias UI doesn't even make logical sense. so my personal opinion is to never buy a POS nokia. (until i see one that proves other wise)
Stop talking crap. Go check out the E series and N80 and then repeat your words.

As mentioned before it depends on the need. I were just about buying a N73 but decided to try it out in "real life" and what a disapointment it was. The screen was much worse than I'd expected, mainly duo to the same resolution as K800 but on a bigger display. Secondly because I've been using the E60 with smaller screen and better resolution, which made the N73 look not so good. The speed on N73 was also a bit disapointing, but I guess I could live with that. The build quality on N73 wasn't that good either, but good enough. Though I found the S60 fancy because it's possible to add applications yourselft, I really didn't find that many apps I really wanted. I missed the possibility to have full screen picture, name on incoming SMS and a decent alarm and count down timer on N73. That the K800 comes with from the begining. Fortuneatly the N73 could be capable of those things with third part programs.
So if one doesn't need a lot of third party apps then I really can't see the why choose the N73. To me thats basicly what the choice is about, do you need more programs or not? That could be translatet in to N73 or K800 respectedly in my opinion.

@ themaxx, it's comments like yours that make people shout, "lock this thread! Throw away the key!"! Don't try to sound all reasonable to then spout the same taste-based nonsense this kind of thread seems to squeeze out of the bored like the factoids new labour squeezes out of "statistics"! You exaggerate! You distort worse than facewarp... Take, e.g,, both phones out on a sunny day to take some pics - see which screen you prefer: the clearer one or the one whose content you can actually see... the ui-argument is too baseless to comment on - just say: it's over my head like concord... Themaxxx, just don't buy one but keep your "reasons" as private as possible until you can make them sound plausible and based on actual experience from more than 5 mins looking at it confusedly...

Hi, I'm a new user of Nokia N73 ME. Before this, i use SE K750i for 6 months, W900i for 7 Months, and W850i for 3 Months.
Sony Ericsson phone are great, with friendly UI, great music functions, fast menu. But very sad that these 3 phones give a lof of the hardware problems [joystick problems (K750i), Mechanisms problems (W900i), Inactive Simcard & Hangs & AutoOFF (W850i)]
When i thinking to change phone, i refuse to take K800i as its joystick problems (3 of my frens report on this issue). Because of this, i have to give Nokia a try, which is I hate them the most of the time. I can say that N73 ME is a good phone, Symbian 60 3rd Edition, great camera, 2GB memory card, Office application, PDF... N73 Music Edition also patch all the hang issues that original N73 has. Compare to K800i, it has slow menu, slow camera, lousy alarm clock, softer music quality via headphone, the others are fine for me.
Back to the title, If you are looking for smart cum camera phone, can go for N73 or N73 ME; if looking for better camera (night shot), stable & easy to use phone, plz go for K800i.

Hi (:
I just read all the replies on this topic, and desided to make my own relpy (:
First off, i've counted the "votes" , it seems like the N73 wins. As for it having more ppl to say "I would go for the N73. (I don't meen like "win, as for in the K800 to be a peice of crap ;-P)
As for my oppinion, i would go for the N73, mainly because of it's better camera, and it being a Smartphone, wich i need for work
The N73 works great, and for those who have a slow N73, this is just because you have
A. Not so much battery left
B. Have had more than 3 programs running and not rebooted the phone AFTER closing all the eprograms.
C. MAYBE having a virus.
A answer: i've noticed on my N73, that when i don't have that much battery left, it sometimes slows down a bit. This is just SOMETIMES
B answer: I read it somewere and tried it out. It actually works. if i have been running 3+ programs, and i deside to close all 3 programs. This is NOT closing everything. Look at it as coockies on a computer.. there is always something left, even dough you close it. so i searched a bit on the internett, and i learned that rebooting the phone after having 3 programs opened and closed, really helps. ofcourse, you only do this after a while, and only if u notice that it is going slow.
C answer: This is smartphone wich meens that it CAN get a virus. if u use open office with a file from you're computer/laptop, this file migth be infected. If u have a virus on you're computer, this migth have been sitting on a word file, wich you open on you're N73. I recomend either buying a good antivirus program, or downloading from the internett.
Now, the only things that i can say about the slownes, is that even dough this methodes doesn't work, i don't relly think that it is slow.
Why the N73:
-:-: Better Camera than K800, in over-all
-:-: Has TONNS of aplications to download.
-:-: Bigger screen. I think that the resolution is perfect for the N73, and a little bit to much to handle for the K800 mini-screen
-:-: The memorycard in the N73 is WAY better than the one in K800
WellWell, ofcourse, buy whatever phone you want ;9
If u want a perfect camera with carl-zeis optics, and a smartphone, you go for the N73
If u want a less perfect camera (but still awsome) with xenon - blits, but is not a smartphone, you go for the K800.
I would say that the K800 is a cheaper version of N73.
Peace
