Hi all.

I made a bold move yesterday, and bought both a C902 and a N82! I'm hoping to test them both out and sell the lesser on eBay (brave move....hoping I may even make a small profit If im lucky!).

Can anyone tell me what the C902 is like for browsing the internet? I'm completely new to the mobile internet game, so I've absolutely no idea what its like browsing the web off a mobile! I intend to use it mainly for skype/fring if that helps?

Hence was I was tempted by N82 - this whole symbian dealy with RAM plus a 'proper' browser gave me the impression I should really be using that type of phone for internet usage?

I mean, can I view any website on a SE phone? I really dont know!

I've been a SE user for years now so I'm bending toward keeping the C902 (although I dont have either phone yet!). I think the N82 might be a bit big anyway, and Im fearful of the battery life in comparison to my current K800!

ta muchly for any help/advice!
[ps I apologise as I know there have been some raving debates comparing N82/C902 on many a website!]

I wanted a n82 at first but the shop sold it all out and i ended up with c902
anyway i think that n82 would be a better phone overall with more functions and such. with wifi it would have an advantage for web browsing.

c902 on the other hand looks better and it doesnt have the lag nokia phones have once u updated the firmware on c902

if u mind the bulky size of n82 then i suggest u to go for the c902

Download opera mini for j2me and you will have a much better browser than the built in netfront that comes with SE phones. Netfront is almost as good as the Nokia browser but not quite. However Opera Mini is in some ways even better than the Nokia browser. My brother in law has an N95, and he often uses opera mini when certain sites don't work properly using the Nokia browser.

So don't be concerned about internet, your C902 will serve you well. If you do install Opera Mini, you can set it as a dpad shortcut so you don't have to dig into "applications" just to use the internet.

However N82 has wifi which means you can access the internet using your home wireless access point (if you have one).

So it's up to you, but if you don't need wireless (wifi) then go with the C902 I reckon.

Also does this phone have mineral crystal glass just like the T650i?

I don't know for sure but I have read somewhere around this forum that it has mineral glass display that protects the phone very well.

Thanks muchly for the advice!

Got both phones today.... I must say the N82 is a lot less bulky than the dimensions had me imagine. Taking into consideration your comments too, I was bending toward C902.....however....

I've now found out C902/J2ME phones do not support Fring application, so unless I can find a free MOIP app that is supported, I may stick with N82 (or give up all together!!)

cheers again

Maybe it was disabled somehow or a bug of the phone firmware. Or you did something with the phone like changing SIM cards, master reset or maybe firmware update and you have it now.

Then may be this service started by your operator recently. For sure, why not you call them?

Can anyone tell me if MyPhoneExplorer 1.7 works with the C902 I've connected it to the pc and selected phone mode (just as I did with my K800i) but I keep getting an error message "Could not open COM3!"

Cheers

It's not something they would just 'turn off'. More than likely your Operator has just improved service in your area that's all.
