How can it be born dead.
The design, 8.0MP form-factor alone is enough to win people over. What follows is just gravy.

Hmm. People will always complain and that is because perfection doesn't exist. Even the "mighty" N82 has it's flaws (as perceived by others)...
Nonetheless the C905 is great!

man... C905 really something, it aint marketing gimmick. The quality is really there. i thought its gonna be like K850, but IMO, if the quality of the PRE PRODUCTION is already so damm good like that.. i wonder how the released version is gonna be. Sony Ericsson listens to our moaning these past few years and counter strike with this super gadget. Its time for nokia to close their store with those rubbish phones they recently announced.

Just my words
"normal customers" don't only buy a phone because of its features: They also want good design, which many N-series devices unfortunately don't have
I mean look at n82, it is soooo ugly, but the N95 8GB looks good though
The quality of the camera is very good, already on this stage, and the sensor is quite big compared to other cameraphones.... The optics are good aswell

Any word on the cam module used on shiho? Is it the 8mp samsung module? Or could it be a SONY cam module yet unannounced?
*(But then again, if ever there is a SONY 8mp cam module, it should have been highlighted in yestrday's anouncement..)

C'mon SE!! In the meantime, I tested the I-mobile 902 and, as far as I know, its SE that makes its CCD camera sensor.
No. It was Sony, and they were producing more or less identical camera modules for three phones: i-mobile 902, LG KG920 and Gigabyte g-cam. And the very same ICX495 CCD sensor from this module was also used in a bunch of Canon cameras.
. . .
Although I am 100 percent sure it's a CMOS sensor in the C905, I would like to see a few low light shots at full size, to see if they have managed to reduce the problem with noise without resorting to heavy noise reduction. And even if they haven't, shooting low light shots at 3 MP should produce shots with low noise. (Remember, with
current technology CCD is about three times more sensitive than CMOS, and the only way past this is to make the CMOS sensors larger, as they do in dSLRs.)

Sony announced a new type of CMOS sensor a few days back. Maybe it's the same used in the C905... or maybe not as the announcement is talking about a 5 MP sensor. Actually, that would make some sense. Take one of the sample shots and shrink to 5 MP and then blow it up again to 8 MP and compare with the original and see if you lost any details...

Looks-wise, though, if the pictures of the metallic C905 posted by jjjajjj are not simply breathtaking, I don't know what is. The build quality looks top-notch, thank goodness for that... although the buttons seem to be fingerprint magnets that does not spoil the overall first impression.
