Edit: Actually, I think the quality is slightly worse. There is no detail in the bench, seems more like a 3mp photo than an 8mp one.

i think they are slightly sharper & clearer...they looked soooo good in shrinked size.
(but you quite right, they are not much better then this here...my misstake, sorry)

I know what megapixels are, but if you zoom in to these pics they have shallow edges and very little detail. A 3mp image would have much less detail than an 8mp, is the point I was getting at. I don't see an improvement, only a step back here.
