I played a game untill the battery was completely drained. I did that before and there was no problem. This time Lumia decided to stay asleep. The only reaction it gave was 1 vibrate while doing the 'battery-pull' trick, only when connected to the charger. It's still under warrenty. No problem there.

Did you try keeping the charger connected for atleast 30 min before giving it over to nokia? I know even x10 mini pro did this. IT would feel as if the phone is dead. But after keeping the charger for a while it comes back to life.
