I think those images have too much noise to be honest. I think whoever has resized them down has used a poor quality app to do so which has probably a much higher jpeg compression.
Im still on the fence. Overall, I still think the 808 is probably the better option for more natural colours and a real raw image, but the 1020 seems to produce better results with a little help from software.
And i'll say it again,
every time a new phone is announced with a high spec camera, we slate it here on Esato. But as soon as it hits the stores and the proper users get a hold of it, the impressive shots come. Seriously, ive said that same statement about 50 times on Esato this past ten years.

I am thinking the same .. just bad resize job, or.. something like that.
what worries me is shots like this, which are not resized

you can clearly see the grain.. there is no such thing on the 808

That's definitely resized, look at the image dimensions. They're a strange combination.
The phone isn't that bad, I don't believe it for a second. I really want the 1020 to be a complete hit as the 808 will never be so. Even if there is a little difference in image quality.
This again just reminds me of every other time a new cameraphone comes out, like when my N8 came out and people said the same, blurry at the edges, strange colour tints, excessive noise. Yet my N8 has been perfect from day one and delivers brilliant 12mp images almost three years on !

I think
3072x1728 is the default 5Mpix PV resolution for both the 1020 and 808.. They might still be resized, but its exactly the same res.

I think if so, the phone didn't do the resizing, but third party software on a pc.

LG is returning to Windows Phone:-
http://pocketnow.com/2013/08/[....]rce=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
"Those FCC docs we just looked for an LG tablet – presumably the G Pad – were a fantastic find, helping to answer some lingering questions about LG’s plans. We thought that might be the most significant story regarding upcoming LG hardware we’d see today, but it looks like we’re only getting started. A new interview’s been published with LG Bulgaria’s Dimitar Vulev, and he goes into some detail about what’s next for the company.
For starters, he mentions an LG tablet like we’ve just been discussing, and explains that LG sees the tablet market as prime for growth, and wants to get back involved, suggesting that this new tablet will go up for sale before the end of the year.
He also talks a little about phablets, and indicates that something big is coming next year – physically larger than either the Optimus Vu or Optimus G Pro.
As for platforms, Vulev indicates that LG is likely to return to Windows Phone, following a WP8 no-show. He additionally mentions efforts to produce a Firefox OS handset, though that may not be in the cards until 2014.
We also get some brief teases, like a quick mention of a smartwatch sometime next year, and one that even might use a flexible display (like we just heard LG was working on).

Dropped by the AT&T store again.. didn't have much time so I just clicked a few.
I really wanted to see the bokeh, zoom, and flash performance again so.. here there are.
The bokeh is pretty much identical... you can get closer to the subject with the 1020 which is a plus. Its also sharper by default, which I think will make it a better close up/macro shooter.

This is maximum zoom, which is the same as full resolution. 1:1 PIXEL ratio. Also, the actual zooming is much smoother on the 808 for some reason..
