Unfortunately I've given my Ultra back... After one week using I must say, it's a bit big for me, 6" would be perfect. Also I am missing a lot the LED flash on the back...
Otherwise a very nice super processed device with premium feeling! Hope this device will get next year a successor.

makes sense. the ultra is only good if you are carrying a purse or a bag all the time. in other words, a good phone mostly for girls.
it's quite annoying that sony chose to go with a 6.4 inch phone. safer bet would be to start with a new z line in 5.5-6 inch (6 inch while trying to keep minimal bezel and phone pocketable also when sitting...). what sells more? 6.4 inch phone or 5.5+ inch phone which is still pocketable? answer is easy... but sony tries to differentiate themselves, ok, that's good, understandable...
so what about a new a bit smaller line sony? no, the news says that "sony ordered new displays in 5 inch and 6.5 inch", so... our wish probably will have to wait at least hehe... so safe to say(only my prediction) "z ultra 2" will have 6.5 inch... an average pocketable size doesn't exist in sony's eyes for 2014? see how successful the note is. and i don't see the note compromising on it's camera quality and a led flash despite its size and that it's a different line then the galaxy s, unlike the ultra. yes, the ultra is ultra thine, water proof, etc. fantastic, but when you can't sit while your phone is inside your pants pocket then its less appealing to most i think.

G'day Z Ultra owners. Having given up my Z1 dreams, I have decided I will be jumping into a Z Ultra for my next phone. I hope to pick it up sometime this month and will be picking up that power cover above (whenever the frack it's available in Canada). I look forward to my new phone and reading more impressions from y'all until then!

A question arises in my head. I've decided I'm going to get the Z Ultra unlocked - so basically this:

What I'm wondering is that since my phone will be unlocked, how does this benefit me as far as updates are concerned? I imagine I won't be restricted to the horrible update schedules of the providers, but does this mean as soon as Sony releases an update globally, I can do it? Do I have to wait for regional updates? Are these normally over the air, or via PC?
Thanks for any answers!

Had my Z Ultra for about 2 weeks now and I can honestly say that its the best handset ive had for watching Sky Sports and movies etc on the "big screen" It has the usual Sony problem of less than stellar viewing angles but I only tend to watch things when looking straight at the display !! The other "issue" and its only a slight niggle is that the external speaker isn't very loud, I would imagine that this has something to do with the IP rating of the device. I suppose you cant have your cake and eat it.
I don't do much mobile gaming but Dead Trigger 2 on this handset is a revelation. The extra screen real estate really makes a massive difference to the controls etc.
Now if Sony could improve the absolutely dreadful camera slightly I would be really over the moon. I appreciate its not the main selling point bit is really isn't good
The other problem is that as good as it is, it really is at the limits of being a "mobile phone" and is rather difficult to handle on a daily basis.

I find on the Sony's that the speaker performs depending on what Walkman sound setting you have and X Loud too but often they sound awful at full volume. Have not seen the image quality of the Z Ultra yet
