it is a fairly decent review and for the most part, they seem to like it.

the things they nitpicked on were a bit strange but whatever.

it's funny how S8 does so well in benchmarks but can barely hold it's own against XZs in speed tests doing real world tasks

I am surprised that GSMArena actually seem to be enjoying the Xperia XZ Premium.
The camera hold its ground compared to the other competitors.

I have been comparing photos taken by the XZ Premium, Galaxy S8, P10, G6.
In my opinion the G6 wins in terms of clarity and details but seems to suffer from somewhat muted colors just like the P10, which falls behind the rest of the packs. The XZ Premium exhibits most moire of the bunch but offers the most eye-pleasing colors in your shots. The Galaxy S8 has well saturated colors too but falls behind the G6 and the XZ Premium in details.

That 4K IPS LCD Display is guzzling the battery life, 72h for a phone with just a 5.5inch Display and no Always On Display , yikes

Hopefully the replacement model at IFA will bring a larger battery.

Whoever ends up getting this, here, it will be great to see the type of Screen On Time you get without Stamina Mode, it would be interesting to see if it manages 6-7hours SOT without actually having to turn on a power saving mode.

Wow, Great battery life for such a tiny battery phone with REAL 4K display.

Unlike samsung's pentile matrix fake display where QHD resolution is equal to FHD RGB display in terms of sharpness XZP's RGB stripe real 4K display is sure is amazing. I'm surprised that ZXP is able to put that kind of battery number with real 4K display whereas samsung keep producing fake QHD+ display where each pixel lacks a single subpixel. It'll take atleast 2 years before Samsung will be able to put a RGB stripe 4K display whereas Sony did it in 2015. LOL.

I bet even if samsung put 4K display it'll be again a pentile stripe. Waiting for the day when samsung able to put a real RGB stripe amoled display without the red tint issues. ( Sorry if my post is a bit technical about display tech, some laggy brain samsung fanboy may not be able to understand what I'm implying

Actually from Gsmarena review the display is only 4K when 4K content is run otherwise it is a 1080p display

In this case, however, it does not affect the performance as the phone runs in 1080p mode most of the time. That's until you feed it with quality 4K footage where it really starts making use of all the pixels

Pretty disappointed with the battery life and also with the fact that -

I had the intention of buying it but after that gsmarena review - no way. Sony pulled the same shitty number like with the Z5 Premium - the phone runs in 1080p mode and only in 4k mode in the gallery and video player. WTF??? No real 4k... Well i'll way until IFA and the Note 8 and decide what to buy next.

What we have heard to date is the phone lets you choose different resolutions for different functions. Maybe GSM arena didnt bother to check?

YouTube and Amazon both have native 4K for the XZ Premium and Netflix will add support in the near future and do you really need to read your SMS in 4K? As by default the Galaxy S8 range is set to 1080p out of the box rather than 2K and the difference between the two resolutions is minimal so having the UI run in 4K 24/7 would be a pointless if you ask me.

Wow! And i thought i was a Sony fanboy...
Sony advertised this phone as a phone with a 4k display. S8 and S8+ have the option to change their resolution from 720p up to 2k. Based on the gsmarena review, XZP doesn't have that option. Why should i buy a phone with a 1080p display which only shows some stuff in 4k (like the Z5P)?
