aha! doc, so thats why you weren't showing up on this forum for a while! you were shooting with something-else for a while! congratulations on the acquisition of the canon.
the ventilation there remains the same. you just have to have the patience. but in a way it simulates you well on some sort of 'unfavorable condition' training. after sometime in luxurious ranges i guess i have to go on hard sometimes. not like when we usually get pampered by push-button targets, aircon environment or fresh air range, people who carry our stuff around the range, and other ameneities from luxurious ranges.
and the DVDs ....there's a scare going around the internet that says even data discs may be confiscated at random inspection, due to ignorance of the guys ordered to apprehend. it seems they don't know that we also store our digital photo-images on DVDs. oh well....

The Northstar ventilation seems okey, it's the reloaded rounds' gunpowder that's giving us problem, heheh. Even the best ventilating fan wont be able to get the smoke out of the room properly. Avoid that range if there is an on-going target practice of security guards. So much smoke, so many inexperienced shooters, too dangerous. Better to bring your own ammo, too. Northstar does not want to increase bullet prices so they use charcoal instead. nyeheheh.
boysaint - hold on to your XDA2 and your cash, O2 is coming out with the real XDA3!!! The XDA2S is interim.

You also wouldn't want to go there when there are Asian tourists trying out the rental guns. They're the epitome of unsafe gun handling and are too ignorant or excited to care. Sometimes there are just too many of them there that the watchful range officers can miss a safety violation here and there. Shoot safe guys.

Doc,
yes we agree, safety should be the first point to check while in the range. we all have to be aware of it. and i understand your sentiments regarding inexperienced shooters inside a range. i have also seen those situations. a group of taiwanese tourists, posing for pictures, finger on the trigger, just like movie posters. and another group of japanese, with their equally ignorant japayuki escorts, same problem: fingers on the trigger, and this time the barrel is pointing at the person next to them. makes you cringe. then... G17's story about the neophyte security-guards' training time... a range officer's nightmare!
now that you have the Canon, i believe it's time for uploading new pictures! we'll wait for that, Doc.
G17,
middle of this year the new models of XDAs and iPAQs will arrive. I'm now very anxious for them. let's meet, i'll show you pictures/specs of those. naiinggit na nga ako sa iyo, that you're able to surf and e-mail (not via GPRS) mobile.

Here's one taken with the 20D of a 16 month old GSD that I bought a week ago as a replacement for one that died a few months ago. Their intelligence, confidence, heft and loud booming bark makes them an ideal guard dog
