awe man, those who pre-ordered from expansys won't be getting the handset until october 6.
taken from the expansys forum:
"Hi Robert,
We will have enough stock to fulfill all our pre-orders.
The release is the 30th of September for networks in USA, UK and Germany. We will have stock in the week commencing 6th October, which will be the same for all retailers. "
here's the thread:

If there is a virtual machine software on Windows Mobile I think Xperia X1 can run windows 98 with it’s 528MHz CPU, 384MB Ram and 8GB microSDHC card.

and even XP i guess. XP requires
300Mhz CPU and 128Mb RAM and X1 passed all of it

hopefully the guys at xda developers could create an X86 virtual machine to run it

except that XP is designed for an x86 processor, so there will be a reasonably large overhead translating instructions between the phone processor and the virtual x86 processor.
There is actually an emulator for Win95 on PPC, but it is only in an experimental stage (and no one is working on it). There is no mouse support, ie: the directional controller doesn't operate the mouse, and no virtual keyboard support.
It is also very slow on the platforms it's been tested with, I think some ipaq devices from 2 or 3 years ago. I'm not sure of the exact details, google it if you want more info.

Will it be possible to buy x1 with qwertz keyboard and english WM? Is it easy to change german WM to english (a matter of few clicks like in desktop Windows) or impossible?

-type smart-ass'ed answer here-
...just kidding.
Yes the X1 will have a qwerty keyboard. The X3 will have the qwertz keyboard included.
[edit: QWERTZ is a keyboard format...joke's on me

in my experience of pocket pc and WM devices, they only come with one language in the firmware. so if you buy one with a german geyboard it will have german language
in general you cannot change the language without some hacking, i.e. changing the SPL as you need to load a new firmware with the language that you desire
I'd suggest watching xda-developers site as they will undoubtedly come up with something for you
