Thanks for the info. Hardly a rumour though! We have a dedicated thread for announced/released products

I'm most interested in H.265 codec support. Any chance of that function ending up in Adreno 330 (for 2h flagship) as well?

Can it be done by a software upgrade?

Its nice to see if STE manages to finally release its 9600 until 2014 it will be highly competitive with qualcomm. A a15 architecture with FD-SOI would probably reach the 3GHz barrier and the rogue GPU will most certainly beat adreno 420. Go Go STE (They will probably go bankrupt before that but still )

If STE was that good it would not be going out of business. You don't even know what the performance of adreno 420 is going to but you are calming that STE can do better?

It belongs to the Snapdragon 800 family so I think it will appear in the 2H devices )
2014 flagship might even go with better chip

Never said STE was good, I said imagination technology (rogue) was good. Qualcomms adreno has Never been able to compete with powervr, or even mali for that matter, why would they start now? (And considering that adreno 420 most likely is just a higher clocked adreno 330 made possible by the new HPM silicon they are using for the whole soc I really doubt it).

Sony will never beat Samsung or apple as long as they use Qualcomm. They need to build their own, like they did with the vita

I don´t think that the choosing of processor manufacturer will effect how good Sony´s phones will sell. 98 % of those who buy a Smart phone couldn´t care less about the phones CPU, GPU etc... it is just "geeks" who care ;P
