@ihe: On a GSM network, priority is always given to voice. So GPRS really uses whatever bandwidth (or capacity) that is not being used for voice at each moment. That's why your GPRS speeds can go from blazing fast in one minute to hellish slow the next. In all probability, more people are making calls at the same time those times you find it difficult to browse.

Good to be back! I see a lot of water has passed under the bridge since i was phased out.
Glo has practically packd up here, n MTN i tink, suspended me frm browsing since i was mistakenly given 39,280.82 NGN. Thank God d gprs signal is back, i hope it stays so.
@Ihe, dont kn bout p900 but i can tell u a 6260 is full of shit. There's hardly anyone dt doesn't freeze(my opinion).

With infrared, things are really easy. Cable and BT are the naughty guys.
1. Make sure the GPRS settings on your phone are correct.
2. Activate IR on your phone and point it at your lappy's IR port. Your lappy should find it as a new device
3. In PC control panel- Modem options - Add your phone as an IR modem (usually Standard IR modem)
4. Set up an internet connection with the new modem, and you are ready to go.
Tips still available on my site

@Aya,I'm still doubtful about this linkage btwn data & voice calls.Even glo gprs coverage(data) is yet 2 reach all service area(voice).

I'm doubtful of the law of gravity, as birds, aircraft and spacecraft have been known to fly

The information I gave you is a technological fact, not an opinion.
Where GPRS is yet to be active on any network, its simply because they have not activated it on those base stations.

@AYA, thanks a lot for the tips.
@Ihe, it's not as if i'm trying to run down d 6260, but i used to hav one. It didn't last a mth wit me, i had to sell it off. Xpect problems like seizure of camera, browser failure(my browser actually packed up), freezing(tho common wit symb fones), n flaking polish. To me, its menu button is not properly located. Remember, it's IMO.

@Aya,does that mean that gprs is available but not activated at all base stations from day of installation?

@ihe: you could say the potential is there, but lying fallow.

@Ihe, I think you're better off with p900 cos it's kinda more reliable than the 6260..
If you have probs with the browser, you can get someone to help you upgrade the firmware..
