www.sendspace.com/file/vmri59 you can pay attention not only on quality but on file size also (remember: 21.91 normal and fine mode equals)
by the way, to be exact - we have here small misunderstanding with two various things. our phones don't have adaptive compression but variable quantization (which works sometimes better, sometimes worst). it was always present in our phones

Yep! It works. Thx! Pictures size is 530-602KB against 395-412 KB for the same text image. But seems u r right, after comparison of the same part of snaps i cant be sure which one is better or more sharp...
Ah yes, i will use text recognition program to be sure which snap provide better percentage text recognition...

Well, I'm a bit OT, but common, if you can't differences between f360 modena and f430... In that picture, it was classic f360

Most artefacts on contrast edges are given by camera sensor not the JPEG.
You need to compare a smooth areas which always has noise. When the quality is low you'll get a "porridge" of big smooth points and you'll lose all small soft details in this areas.
JPEG works like MP3: higher compression - more soft sounds you'll lose.

the best way to reproduce crash is to get very bright (+2.0EV) picture but with some visible details (blank white screen can't cause crash). even latest SPU's compression settings at 90% can't hold on this type of image content

Yes, i've got near the same level of text recognition in OCR (Abby Fine Reader 7.0) for both 412k and 568k pictures size. And mb this comparison is like to compare Stradivary violine sound and good ordinary one violine. Only musicians can hear the difference. And may be me - under the very big zoom

.
And BTW - once i've went out from the camera mode - mb of picture size was above buffer size. Is it useless to correct buffer size to 616K (966640 - in cam_ss_jpeg_buf_size_8=927C0)?

w810i vs Nokia 5300
I use sarmad 5.7, macro 1.1:infinity, sharpness "5"
w810i
5300
w810i
5300
The pics of nokia are very sharp but not real colour. Sarmad 5.7 are good colour but not so sharp :| .

@Aur3LiaN
i think the w810 is more rich in details.
maybe the 5300 look sharper but its lacks of detail in pix.
i'll post back ur image taken with w810i and ive make a round mark on it and just compare it with the nokia pix.
cheerz..

Ooops. My mistake. Guess I missed it in a hurry. Both very hot cars and look very alike but IMHO the F430 is hotter.
