Let me present my latest idea, how to improve my test setup, how to present the influence of ambient light vs the LED/MXE-60 alone.

This far I have taken my samples in a room lighted by 60W light bulb, which would add something during the longish exposure time. These samples presented here had exposure time 1/5s - 1/10s with LED, and 1/15s with MXE-60 Xenon tube. Such a long exposure will capture some of the ambient light (here household lightbulb), but how much? New set of samples with the room light turned off was needed. Better late than never.

To get an idea how much of ambient light is capturet during the MXE-60 exposure, please take a look at the shadows on the right hand pairs of samples.

Using the genuine original cameradriver I shot this serie. Let it be as reminder: the rendering of colors greatly depends on ambient lightness level. This is a note to keep in mind all of you shooting samples with various camdriver versions.

I used the original camdriver simply it's the master reference we all should include in order to know how far we have come, so to say.

EDIT:

Forgot to mention, I will repeat this with other "Fluorescentish" camdriver versions... stay tuned.

@MarkQ
I like the way you test things... but could you tell, from your comparison pictures, which one do you prefer? Can you give us some recommendations, for example whether or not to use LED or fluorescent, etc?

HI ALL,

I found one macro missing in the drv 7.7 so it will be good to take new version 7.8. you never know when it will be important.
missing macro was WAIT_FOR_MODE_TRANSITION bcz Andeo used short version WAIT_FOR_MODE and forgot to change on the one place.

@plamen20

v7.8 has 15fps

@mark_q
I heard that is software for the MXE hardcoded so cannot be changed here?
Is it important for flash to be fluorescent by default?
You can change WB as you wish.

v7.8

everything same as v7.7final edited , only fixed macro.

http://www.filefactory.com/file/e84777/

p.s.
v 30.1 is almost same with 7.8. based on the same 5.3 camdriver.
so everyone can decide which is better for him/her. we are not competition here, we try to find best drv which is possible for most of us.

cheers

v7.8 raw data last night through the glass

bcz is because.

here was missing macro WAIT_FOR_MODE

you can write what you want but it must be defined up as macro

//************************************************
// Power save mode, property 15 ***
//************************************************
//
// 0 => Leave power save mode
// 1 => Enter power save mode
//
//---------------------------------------------------
seq_set_prop_f_1=06 02 00 01 81 34 #CMD_END
#WAIT_FOR_MODE_TRANSITION
06 02 00 01 00 53 #CMD_END
06 02 00 01 01 5C #CMD_END #WAIT_FOR_POWER_SAVE_ENTER;

-in initialization was a little mistake
- and was too bright.

@jiji
You blocked EV . you cannot change from -2.0 to +2.0

one cannot expect to has best picture with default settings.
so we have EV bias to change from -2 to 2 and is often need
to put EV -0.3 or -0.7 to get same result as you.

and you changed FPS to 17 it is more than hardware support.

cheers
