naww. had it taken it out and resold. wasnt working properly with my car and was constantly giving trouble.. so better off without it

BUT
i did get custom brake pads AND 15inch discs for the breaks(four-wheel) instead of the stock 14 inch, and got 16inch Dunlops, and 16 inch alloys, so the traction is great, and the breaking is now of the same standard as an Eagle Civic without ABS, around the same as a new model Vitz with ABS, in a nutshell, its great
btw, i got the tyres and rims off a friend who was stuck with em. idiot installed 16inchers in a Honda City and got stuck, so i got the whole gig for around 15k

i've lost some of the acceleration though with those stock general tyres it used to go like stink but now i have to push it a bit

what's with these dooshbags who are spamming here?

the problem is that the car was designed for use with ABS. however, here in this bloody country, in order to categorize the xli, gli and 2.0D as a basic car, they strip it of all such features. airbags, ABS etc. heck, even the tail break light between the speakers!

however, the problem was fixed in 2007, when the model with the new tail lights came. they gave even the xli 4 wheel discs, and braking and grip was a lot better.

before buying the rolla, i test drove a 2003 model xli. hated the hard clutch and the front disc-rear drum combination that made the car wheels jam like a screw driver was stuck in the rims. but the clutch is a lot more softer and the gearbox is much more easier, and kinda more powerful when shifting, in the later models with the now-old shape.

for both of u, here's a trick... trying loosening the brake pads a bit from the brake discs.. this was a feature in the international model for quick braking, since ABS would stop the wheels from jamming. without ABS, the car is like its on ice. i'll ask dad the detailed procedure and let u guys know how to get better braking..

baqi grip is good on the rolla. try turning at a high speed or cutting. the car maintains very good control. we often mistake the tyre jamming for bad grip. its just a lack of the basic infrastructure that the car was built to function with.

the new model lumbers in the 1.3 litre category. the body is too heavy for it, plus its longer, wider, and lower.
xli's are having a run for their money, with ZERO own i paid 80k on mine.

however, the gli with ABS, EBD and full colours is faring better, with an 85k own.
Toyota knows people will buy the rolla even if it is a donkey dragging a cart with a toyota logo.
and they exploit this to their maximum benefit.

sowie for the long post. so sup?

No the problem is more severe on the 2.OD. Even if i do a quick turn at 50-60 the car will mostly skid on straight, not that straight, but there will be a certain amount of skid that even my ALTO doesnt have!! I think its because the body was designed for a patrol engine and since the diesel engine is 2x heavier, it ruins the balance.

Also, all XLis had 4 wheel disk brakes from the very beginning.
