Today i repeatedly got a 100% quality on simple scenes (and no crashes), but a little growth of exposure time and quality falls to the minimum value =(
I can say only one thing. This totally overexposed scenes (with very big white areas without noise at all) are very synthetic and useless! You can't get this without manual shutter speed. Even physically overexposed scenes (like a very close to the camera unfocused white paper with LED flash and EV +2.0) can't cause the above fall of quality. This is because some noise (very low) is still present in the picture due to fast shutter speed.

@Aur3lian ..

the nokia pic is blurred and smeared.. just look at the tree leaves, it's all blurred together.. but with the w810, you can still see the higher level of detail.. looks like the nokia is indeed using some nasty filters that do nothing but destroy the original image.. not good in my opinion..

@kroukes2000: as for that green image, thats very weird, i was not able to reproduce it using night shots.. i tried in different areas with varying light levels, but couldn't get that green effect... so i'm not sure how i can solve a problem that i cant see for myself..

what phone and firmware are you using?

now i see fix for crash when image is too bright. answer is inside driver code. probably you know this already but i put code for anyone interested:

SET_JPEG_QUALITY=
$p1 0e
$c1 01 // flash accessory connected (we can have very bright picture)
$s2 32 // compresion = 50%
#SET_JPEG_MIN(00,01) // minimal size = 1kb
$cx
07 02 00 13 $w2 $w2 $w2 #CMD_END;

jpeg compress bright areas very poor - that's explain why SE dudes create this part of code

@kroukes2000

can u reproduce back the pix with auto white balance instead of flourescent.
i think u have done some editing in the firmware by changing your model name with kroukes or u have edited the exif file from ur pix.

cheerz..

About nokia vs w810:
Most of nokia phones use Carl Zeiss lens. No i dont say that Carl Zeiss lens sucks, I have seen them in many digital cameras which had great quality.
So I think that either nokia uses low quality lens or their camdrivers sucks a lot.
And those unnatural leaves are becouse of lens.I have seen some Carl Zeiss lens doing so.

Nokia has a noise reduce algorithm which "distorts" the colors. You won't have any noise in daylight pictures, but details will look "smeared".

Men, there is nothing to discuss and compare. Nokia 5300 has 1.3MP camera. LoL.

There is no sense what size can nokias produce. Even 3 MP nokia pics look same, i.e. they are crap compared to k750/w810 2 MP camera
