but flashing again will add another CDA line? i am under the impression they do not overwrite, so 3 CDA lines would really mess it up. Which guide should i follow step by step now?

thankyou

I did it and it worked fine for me.

My phone was branded on O2 previously 162008/6
and now its the world generic 162007/1

It was a bit of a risk trying but I figured if it goes wrong just simply change the files back and do a reflash.

By the way
..........

Whose brave enough to try it??? give feedback.

I have done it had a VF p990i but after 3 flashes worked. on the final flash got a error update failed but this was @ about/after 100% SEUS said try again... anyways disconnected, fired it up again... took a while for the SE progress bar at the bottom to reach 100% but got there... it then bought the wizard and downloaded MMS and SMS settings then i went to check versions phone status - R9F011,R5A01 etc etc.. so WORLD 1 GENERIC!!!

niiicceee

+1 worked for me.

I have tried updating my P990 Taiwan Trade firmware.. the update was good..

but after the update, i can no longer turn the phone on... at first it keeps on restarting every time the SE logo shows up then it restarts.

but then i tried updating again, luckily the phone has been read by the PC.
after the 2nd attempt, then i turn the phone on. it simply flickers white.

what should i do now?!

i dunno if its gud news but, somehow SEUS can still read the phone. meaning when i tried updating the phone, it sez latest firmware is installed. "Continue Anyway"

Well guys, after reading about being able to change the CDA yourself, I thought I would give it a go on my spare 990i...

Ok, yes I have 2 990i's, and the new one I used KK to change the CDA.. worked a treat, now on World Generic 1, and flashed fine.

As there is a new firmware out, I used the spare 990 to try it on.

I looked at the files I already had in the blob folder, and checked the dates for when I last did the new one, and copied those to another folder..

cleared the blob folder and flashed the Voda branded phone..
Checked for the 2 files, renamed those from the previous generic flash and copied back..

Flashed again, and then checked for CDA... final flash, and hey presto.. generic world 1 updated to new firmware..

So, to recap, yes it works.. and I still have the two files needed to change the CDA..

Just updated the new one as well..

Einst, long time no speak chap! Good to see you still here!

And yes, quite a little doozy of a trick, eh?? Anyone would rather spend time over money......
BTW(off topic), I got a silicon case from your recommended chap, has saved my 990 a good 3 times I can think of, this year alone! Thanks again!
