I dont think anyone will get close to it at all until the market itself changes. The market isnt about 808 style cameras, its about slim profiles and pretty operating systems.

I Agree With Everything You Wrote, Only Add To This: "Slim Profiles, Pretty Operating Systems And Mediocre Cameras" !

Slim profiles and good camera are mutually exclusive ... unfortunately.

The 808 is not a niche product because of its size btw.. if it was the apple logo on there instead of Nokia, it will be a "trend setter" for sure.

Someone called me a hipster because of my phone yesterday.. again .. hah

Nah i dont think by sticking an Apple logo on it alone would work. Maybe the word iPhone would.

I know someone who didnt even know who made his iPhone. Not sure what he thought the logo on the back was for then. Its the word iPhone that makes it special.

Finally had time to compare my arsenal .. Like I said, the 808 can hang with an older DSLR during the day... no problem.

Here is a link to an album with all the original files: http://sdrv.ms/TXJmOP

It goes: 808, iPhone 5, Canon XTI (400D for Europe).

Notice how much wider the Nokia is ..

zoom, Here is where the lens on the DSLR takes full control.. thank to that the pixel sizes remain the same, where the the 808 needs to go down to 1.4 microns .. shitty.

well 808 is totaly comparable to dslr on daylight especially in details, it does mix white balance a bit but it is understandable since all scene were hard contrast scenes. I5 wasnt bad also, but compared to 2 other guys it has discouraging grain .
You are totaly right concerning videos, i came acros some recording of Bruce Springstin's concert and i was "WOW!" when heard audio quality, zoom was also handy

I have 2 issues I see with the 808. One is slight lack of contrast in some shots slightly darker on the very first shot. And occasionally colours are a touch pale like the N8 was.
