I tried a paperclip and that didn't help. In fact, it made it worse; such that the photo I got was almost totally whited out!
In the end, I took a safety pin and, gently, tried to scoop out any dirt - and this suddenly resulted in little bits of dirt flaking off.
Et voila! I am now getting comparable pictures to the new K850i. Result!
So, if the firmware issues are now solved (or at worst, partially solved), the next problem for K850i users is going to be this sensor. I think this should be put in any FAQ on the forum!

and yes..right..the sensor is pain in the ass..people shld know bout this problem and how to solve it..because i think that maintaining this sensor should be a frequent "to do"

Got me thinking..i can't really sense if im making a picture of anything white..can it?
I mean white does reflect more light but not enough for the sensor to detect it right?

I know that, but i've seen the flash fire way shorter than it does when i shoot on white objects.
They should either
1) figure a way for the phone to reduce flash power when shooting at white objects
2) allow us to use the LEd flash as well (My k750 takes perfect shots of white/macro objects)

The intensity of the flash is adjustable, which the light sensor controls. If that is dirty, or covered, it will calculate incorrectly and you'll end up with an image that is over, or under, exposed.
The problem with the lamp not firing properly, or firing out of sync, was corrected a while ago.
I must admit that I am amazed SE managed to get away with releasing the K850 as it was before. This new firmware, which I am sure isn't perfect and we'll spot bugs in the coming days, has made my K850i feel like an all new phone.
I think I'm going to call it the K851 from now on. LOL

If you already had this speed on 038, you can't surely be disappointed? You got the benefit of this speed increase earlier than we did.
Did that have the other new features, such as being able to lock exclusively to 3G or the vibration when you press the touch buttons?
