@CrownedAkuma what the hell made you thought I was going back to Nokia Windows Phone?? I don't want to anymore. And stop saying let's see how much this one lasts. I signed up to a deal to get the Z1 and it turns out to be yet another poor Sony. The Note 3 is far far better than the Note 2 and way better than Z1 imo. Am not the only one on here who changes a lot. But am not signing up to a deal with a sub par phone.

Just based on the only info I had: the fact that you care about Photo quality! And surely photo quality can be found on Pureview Unit!

I was not bashing nor biasing! I do not have the Z1 (but I'll have) let's say I'm collecting impression of the phone by some forums and as of now It is 45 happy and 9 sad! It's not a perfect score but it's good:P surely you had a bad, really bad experience! But I think you have not so much patience... You bought the phone and was happy as baby on Christmas... Then you flashed it and it all went down a cliff in zero time! Have you at least tried what the others users were advising you?I don't think so! But this is subjective you burned yourself with the Z1 and wanted to change! I understand that!:P good luck with your note III!! It's a GREAT phone! With a lot (battery life, screen, functionality...) better than the Z1! Probably you made the right choice:)
Still I will do a mistake and buy the Z1... I fell in love the first time I hold it!

Surely but as of now the CAMERPHONE kings are on Nokia side... The 1020 has, let's face it, GREAT photo and potential... And the 808 even if hold is still the master when it comes to Photo! And in 2nd position there's Apple! I do not like their iOS and their phones but they have great camera software! As for Sony they have always been crappy on the software side... And this is real! Look at the software inside cameras, tvs, ps3 (especially if put against the 360) and phones! But they are growing fast! Their UI has done GIANT leap from the Ericsson time! On the other side thier hardware has always been rock solid! my ps3 died just this summer and it was a 60GB Fat! And my 5 years bravia is still working perfectly... They show the inside of the Ps4 and it's TechnoPornography... Cutting edge architecture assembled with experience! that's the only reason I'm trusting sony...I sadly believe that sadly there will be no BIG UPDATE for the camera in Z1... But I'm still hoping for it to come out with 4.3 or 4.4... Once on a while return to this thread to see if something has changed:P

I say I would give it 1 more firmware update or at least the next one to see the different, if ZOMG was right, next one should or will introduce a new jpeg compression from the current 80% up to 3 level, normal 80%, Fine 60% and Ultra Fine at 50%. 50% means double the file size. Funny that I pull out my old S3 and took some a shot at ISO 100, 8MP setting under the same light condition and everything at the same thing a few times, the S3 photos were around 3.4-3.6 MB, then I took a shot with my Z1 in the same setting I was surprise that the file size was only 2.6 - 2.8MB. While I can carely see more detail retaining in the Z1 shots but the compression artifacts was pretty bad. Only way to minimize those is take a full 20 MP shot and downsample it to 8MP manually which still give a much better result than S3. I think Sony compress too much and then they added some sort of imagine sharpening which doesn't help the picture at all. In some rare occasion it may help but most of the time it only make the compressions artifacts even more noticeable. I hope they will add RAW support too. I am not giving free pass for Sony here even if it does ended up with a huge boost in quality or best camera in android OS eventually .This is something that should have been done on day 1 when the phone released, they deserve all the criticism they are getting from users or reviewers.

Congratulation for your decision Bonovox.
I have been using Note 3 now for almost a month and it was the best decision I made for this generation phone.
Just like you, I returned my Z1 for the Note 3 instead.
I'm happy with it and I don't want to express my happiness in here to stir some feelings.

Sold my Z1, camera on that phone is no more than avarage, not worthy a flagship

Waiting for an update is not good enough. It is always that way with Sony, the next update, the next phone etc. No more Sony for me

My Note 3 is miles ahead in every aspect

I think beeing happy with the device is never a bad feeling isn't it.
However saying cr...p is another thing. But we can't avoid it.
Pity you can't use the Z1 camera beeing clearly better than Note 3.
@Bonnovox
I bet you'll switch the phone next month, just like with any other occasion. It's not even about the phone, it's about you.
