@Angel: I cannot say that I understand MTN's gprs billing pattern yet I can only tell you what I have experienced. If you have credit on your phone, you will be billed for what you download, but when your credit level gets to 0.00, you do not get cut off, because I'm still browsing with 0.00. However, what I can't say is whether you start accruing negative bills as is the case with glo, or if you can still browse when your access days expire. I'm waiting till then before I recharge, then I'll know for sure.

Just on a whim, I decided to see if MTN GPRS was going thru and ... surprise, surprise... it was. I have not bothered to check if I am being billed or not. I probably will not recharge anyway.
I have been getting the Yahoo Messenger nicknames of my pals from prodigits so we can continue on the 'net. Meanwhile this is from my PC.
On the issue of using a PC to browse... let me add that it is very important to use the CD from the phone.... if it is a SE T610. The WAP profile U select determines the last number after "99*** whatever.
What I can't get is this whole "*99**" business.... I believe it is possible to dial an independent ISP like Linkserve using the same method. Has anyone tried it? Do I need to create a special WAP setting just for it?
Answers please...

@Coola: of course you can use your phone modem to connect to any ISP that offers dial up access, simply replace the *99 number with your ISP dial up access number, then enter your username and password. you do not need to create a wap profile for this, but you'll definitely need a truckload of recharge cards cos u'll be charged at normal call rates.

@Adrusa: if they had shown faces or releases names of the deceased before their families could be informed, thats one reason to act heavy handed but if its just for showing disembodied remains its bull****!
Its a bigger shame that a small town in the US has better emergency services than the whole Naija!! Not one Naval or Airforce Helecopter was available for a prompt search, on the escuse it was at night. What if Cameroun decides to invade at night? Silly rabbits.
@Mamba: thanks once more.
@ All: Is Glo gprs working in Abuja? havent been able to access it since I came! No MTN gprs tariff yet? The 75k/kb rumour was such an anticlimax. it'll dwindle thier data subscribers

Bellview's people released the names of the passengers well before anybody knew what the fate of the aircraft was. I thought that was silly and NTA wasnt closed for reporting that.
What I thought was this is envy on the part of the government media who were busy wasting resources racing to kisi, while AIT was showing the real thing. We must also not forget that Obasanjo owned Bellview!!! And but for AIT, we may not know that there were no survivors, considering what damage that will do to Bellview's image.
For some people, it simply means OBASANJO's PLANE KILLED 116 PEOPLE ON HIS HOME GROUND ON THE SAME DAY HIS WIFE DIED AFTER COSMETIC SURGERY.

Angel, its not the cosmetic surgery angle I'm talking about, its the "Obasanjo's airline killing 116 people on his home soil on the same day his wife died" angle I'm referring to. The odds of that being true are 100:1 Its just a nasty coincidence.
Have you guys noticed that someone has been missing from our discussions today? @Aya: are you ok?

@adrusa: Fact is the plane actually crashed on Saturday night. Our dear Stella died on Sunday Morning.
