large amounts of data can take a while to delete, unfortunately Android is not like windows and shows you that it's still doing something.

One bug I have identified with my Z1 - when deleting or viewing files using a file manager sometimes a file can still be there but cannot be seen depending on which FM or method is being used to view the file, for e.g. I needed to re-pair my Z1 with my laptop after a glitch and when you pair a device it puts a text file on the internal memory root that identifies the paired device - when I tried to pair it kept saying that the file was there and I needed to delete it but I couldn't see the file with the file manager that I normally use, I tried a few others and eventually connected it to my lappy and sure enough it was there using my laptop file manager - all programs were set to view hidden/system files etc, I've had a few other problems like this with other files, I don't think it's a Z1 or Sony issue I think it's an Android issue

I have a question, though. It may seem stupid.

I know the phone is waterproof but, am I able to use this in the shower? For listening to music, etc.

Steam may be a different factor to actual water, I just don't want to ruin my phone by getting 'steam' in it. If that makes any sense?

Im not trying to scare you but I've damaged my XZ twice because of water. Sometimes the flap just opens even after proper closing. I've taken a oath not to really play with water too much.

Shower is still good but just see to it the flaps are tightly closed and don't risk to do it too much.

Currently my XZ is dead cause of water damage.

Here in the UK if you Xperia Z gets water damage Sony are replacing the device under a manufacturing defect as they cant prove the port flap was open or not. They are doing this probably as a good PR stunt might be worth while getting intouch with your operator or Sony direct and just tell them it fell in the bath and all ports were closed tight. You might just get lucky

The thing is, inside the flap there's white color small strip. If that turns red that means the device was in contact with water and that's how they prove it's dead due to water damage. I told them to prove it to me that there's water contact and this is how they proved me.

Even with the strips turned red they will still replace it i'm sure as it is a failing of the waterproof port they cant say the port was open as they have no proof I have seen exactly the same thing as I work for a UK network and we have had all water damaged XZ's replaced as Sony claim it is a defect in the phone not human error. What have you got to loose just by giving it a go I'm sure you will get a good response.

As XperiaJunkie said - the strip just proves there is water contact, not that the flap was open. could have been a flap malfunction or an o-ring defect, or any other possibility. if there is a way, water will find it.

pretty cool if sony is replacing them no questions asked. i doubt i'd get that kind of service here in the states. but sony doesn't have much of a presence here.

According to the manual, you shouldn't use speakers or mic or headphone Jack for 4 hours after it becomes wet(probably soaked). I have used it much sooner than that (like 2 minutes later) but then I stopped using it out of fear. I have taken my z1 to the pool couple of times but I doubt using the headphone Jack while immersed in water would be a good idea.

Well after I tried the Z1 in water I tipped it upside down and lots of water kept coming out the headphone jack

try dropping an S4 in water and see how much comes out

The Xperia Z had many problems relating to water leaks - the main one being the back panel lifting due to heat from the CPU/GPU - I would not like to assume the Z1 will be treated the same way by Sony, as mentioned above very hard to prove how the water got inside the XZ considering the many problems it had
