Woah! Thanks alot Xajel and to you randomuser, whom I have so much respect

I'm not really missing in action

I still keep checking the posts from various threads here and there though I admit haven't logged in my account for quite a while

for 6 years I've been a member, i don't think completely leaving this site that I loved and keep loving would ever come to my mind
I'm no chip engineer but I think one way to alleviate the heat and power consumption problem on top-end SoCs would be a hardware implementation that was already used on desktop X86 CPUs, the venerable "power gating" which was first introduced by the first generation core-i7s on 2008. but I can't understand how ARM couldn't do such thing on its design and instead opted for pretty hyped Big.little which is imho a waste of die space (and costlier to produce) that Big Little could've been much more amazing if it's just a "Big" (8 A15-cores) with less power leakage

^^
That what Nvidia had achieve in Tegra 4 and previous generation . it uses Quad core for big task and the Fifth core has low frequency and used in sleeping mod to save power..

that's right, but not exactly, if you take a close look at intel's nehalem architeture (the first generation core ix CPUs) they don't use 5th cores instead they use the same high performance core but is undervolted and underclocked when in idle mode. so the question is why use a low power 5th core or Big.Little method which increases the die size when you could optimize an existing core/s by turning it into low power mode?

I don't think Motorola will announce in Feb and ship in May. Most of the manufacturers have learned that.
