So no more phones. Well all in all its been dissapointing on SE's behlaf imo. X1 is great but its not everyones cup of tea. C902 isnt really the facelift of the k850 we were expecting - no xenon, smaller screen. The rest are all just rehashes of current UIQ phones. The only winners at 3GSM this year are Nokia and Samsung imo.

Nokia made a solid show, like SE, nothing groundbreaking...you go and read what people though of nokia´s offerings on the blogosphere...

And see digg.com statistics for 3GSM, what was the most talked item...guess what??? SE X1

At the same time, they announced their first UIQ phones for the medium segment - and that is important (again, read what is being said about that on AAS, etc)

The only thing missing was the highend UIQ devices that we want so much

look i couldnt care any less than i do about the X1 it just means to me that SE wasted their time, on an ugly WinMo fone ... who the hell cares?

WinMo 4 million units ... Symbian 77 million units ... the X1 is for a niche market, pandering to the cumquats who jumped at the iPhone. ridiculous.

the need for a superior integrated device is there, the demand is there, SE ALWAYS waits too nice long to get AHEAD. instead they are always playing catch up even though they announce their situation AFTER everyone else.

we wont be seeing this phone till mid sept ... watch.

I would hardly call the second most popular smartphone OS "niche." Excluding Blackberries, in the US anyway, it's either WinMo or nothing. In Europe there is more choice, but it still makes up a large part of the market.

Your comments smack of bitterness and it sounds like you believe yourself to have been betrayed on a personal level. I'm really sorry you feel that way and you feel the need to trash talk a product that received possibly more press and media than any other device at 3GSM--simply because it wasn't the product *you* wanted *specifically.*

That being said, am I totally happy with the X1? No. Despite it being a technically impressive machine, I think there are things that could have been better, and those things will probably be resolved with the P5. Does it suck we didn't see the P5 today? Yes. But no amount of complaining will make it be unveiled any sooner.

i am bitter.

am i wrong to be?

i dont think so. is it so hard to introduce your high end gear at the Mobile World Conference? not too far fetched, is it? i dont believe that i was betrayed in any way. i just feel as though common sense and practicality was forgone for a few extra flashes from the press. the x1 doesnt speak to me in anyway, technologically its this years interpretation of the iPhone. weak camera/screen/OS, strong radio/processor, and aesthetically (subjective) offensive to the eyes.

the numbers i stated were world wide, yes. its a matter of appealing to a market that youll sell your products in b.c of familiarity and seeing as how they OWN half of the company that they would want a STRONG showing of how to use it right. not some bastard system on a competing mobile OS ...

I have to disagree with that. Nokia didnt show anything really new and impressive. They show good stuff but in my opinion they were not as good as n95 8gb or n82 for their time (and STILL are)... SE at least came out with a lot of phones with good designs and new features... But nothing impressive either... X1 for me its just a tytn2 with a much better design and ergonnomics + possibly a better UI - GPS, and like you said its great but its not everyones cup of tea.
What i mean is that this year there´s no winners at least for hi-end-phones, and for mid-end-phones the winner maybe SE

No, you're not wrong to be bitter, and venting can be good, but as I said, it won't get you anywhere, unfortunately.

As for releasing high-end gear at MWC...SE *did* release high-end gear. The X1, even though you may personally not like it, is the highest-end device SE has ever announced.

Yeah, it would have been cool to have a second ultra-high-end device unveiled, too, so that SE would have owned the show...but they didn't, and they must have had some reason for not doing so. Possibly because, as has been said here, it still isn't complete enough to show off....the X1 was barely complete as it is (OS-wise).

PK may disagree with you as far as completeness ...

i cannot argue with you about the X1 being high-end only because that is a matter of opinion and timing.

the least the could have done was release the quicksilver K850 + wifi . but no such luck. i hate having to wait 6 months after we know ppl have the phone to see a picture, then another 8+ months for the device to be release at crazy markups. the process is just long and irregular, if there was any information, at least you know what to buy when, else its just a long waiting game.

That Quicksilver version does look good....I suppose it is odd they didn't show it off.

And speaking of WiFi, that WLAN attachment or whatever sounded interesting...

I'm glad CeBit is so soon, so we don't have to wait very long. Hopefully history won't repeat itself. Though now that SE announced the X1, and the cat is out of the bag in regard to all the high-end specs the P5i is likely to share, it may not be that far of a stretch for them to announce its companion phone at the next event where it can receive more attention than if it were announced in tandem. All we can do is cross our fingers and toes, I guess.

I mean, it's bound to appear sooner or later unless SE wants to hoard all the gadgets for themselves and not make any sales.
