I forgot to mention that the XZ2 battery is excellent for the flagship category, I feel it could definitely give you a full day. Also, Samsung makes their own version of every basic app that you can't disable so you get the Samsung calendar app next to the Google app and that doubles the number of apps in the drawer. It's annoying to see that much extra clutter.
One issue with the XZ2 is that it's slippery like nothing I've seen before. You cannot leave it face up on a flat surface because it'll move for sure. Most likely aerodynamic phone in history.

Looks like Premium does not slide on surface.
At least as much as I have seen so far.
Hope they bring more colors. But I do like the silver.

After watching XZ2/ XZ2C disassembly video, I wonder why Sony put too much brackets. If they remove those plastic brackets, I think XZ2/XZ2C won't heavier than competitor's one.

That is why I say brand matters.

Yes PhoneArena is a joke. But, actually, I think they gave OP6 a 9 because of how good the specs and features are with that affordable price.
Oh, check out NotebookCheck and AndroidPit websites for XZ2 reviews. They're honest and sums up my experiences so far. Except, the camera is excellent and the phone doesn't feel thick at all.
I also got my XZ2 and yes, it really is amazing. Its camera is actually good, has amazing battery life (I've had a hard time wasting this phone's battery), it also has impressive speed and performance, it has an arguably great looking design, especially in green, I got used to the fps in hours (with a case), it isn't the thinnest feeling phone I've ever held but it doesn't feel thick at all and I got used to the heavy weight quickly, the display is superb, nothing more to say.
The only downsides:
- The lack of 3.5 mm headphone jack bugs me.
- It is very slippery.
- The speaker is louder, but I don't see any difference to my old Z3 in quality, and it seems like the quality over earphones is a bit worse(?)
- Camera app crashes sometimes.
- It is hard to find a good tempered glass screen protector for this phone.
The battery:

Of course that for $520 the OP5 is better than midranges.
Point is if you remove things from G7, S9 and XZ2 that OP6 does not have these phones would be cheaper as well.

What's missing from OP6 to warrant the extra £300-400?
..except the middle of the notification bar.

It is missing the features you listed but I am sure that the OP6 will take better photos than the XZ2.
No stereo speaker but it has 3.5mm audio jack.
SD cards are slow, go to XDA forum and read about the
18mb/s read write speed on the XZ2.
OP6 has IOS XZ2 does not.
Every product has its weaknesses but for $300 less than the XZ2 the OP6 is an excellent phone.
Edit: Oh and forgot one very important part, OP6 supports VoLTE on T-Mobile and AT&T in the USA. That is the reason why I didn't buy the XZ2 but will give the OP6 a shot.
