I would like to try an update the P1i firmware, but the phone will not complete the backup process. Could anyone please advise what the problem is?

I check my SIM card with several other phones such as K800,K750,Nokia 1100, Nokia N70,... and this SIM card is oK. Before updating to New firmware everything was OK but after that .... Shit.

Region is Middle East 1
Phone : 162037 R9J005
CDA : 162022/9 R6F38

Is there anybody here who can help me out???

Try to delete all old backup files - if there are any. Quite often this helps.

You are the best !
My problem with displaying the caller names is indeed solved by deleting all the contacts from the SIM card. It works like a charm now!
I thank you very much for the trick, i can stay now with p1i which i'm really happy about.
Thanks!

Now, I can use Japanese font successfully.

I was using the font converted from PC. The font was not shown in new firmware as I reported.
After all, I use a license free font (called 'IPA font') instead and Japanese is shown now. Probably, other fonts like Chinese or Arabian may have the same solution.

In MyFontExplorer(found in SE's developer's web sight), only 'Sans-Serif_Latin 12' was shown last time whether I loaded M2 or not.
After the successful conversion, only 'IPAP Gothic 6' is shown instead.
When I changed only 1 font (eg. as 'Sans-Serif_Latin-Regular.ttf') out of 4 fonts in M2/Resource/Fonts, both 'Sans-Serif_Latin 12' and 'IPAP Gothic 6' were shown in MyFontExplorer, some interface's font changed, and Opera shows Japanese. Therefore, I presume that previous original fonts were not loaded actually.

What I can conclude in my case,
1) In M2/Resource/Fonts, there should be 4x 'Sans-Serif_Latin-xxxxxxx.TTF' files. (Some reported file name is not concerned, though.)
2) And, the font's internal name must be able to be read by system of the phone - as like it can be seen in MyFontExplorer.

Hope this information can help.

Updated P1i Firmware from 162024/87(Singapore Latin)/R9H004/R6E30
to 162022/1(World Generic 1)/R9J005/R6F41, using XS++ then SE Updated Service.
However, Chinese fonts could not be used after that. I have tried to find whether someone posted solution somewhere but could not find any. So, I restored back Singapore version again using XS++ then SE Updated Service. (restoring by XS++ only did not restore 162024/87, showed both of two versions.)
Let's wait for updating for 162024/87 or WG1 with other fonts availability.

Hello, Shinsing, you can use Japanese font now, but can you type Japanese (Hiragana and Katakana)?
