yep...recovery mode pretty much ensures that you can't brick your phone...one of the great things about android.

Yeah, its proper difficult to brick a phone... Sammys are easy to work with as they don't have locked bootloaders so you can just whack an insecure kernel on them and away you go... Like jj03 said, with a custom recovery you've no worries, installing a custom ROM or mod etc, ALWAYS backup first so you can roll back if it goes tits up...

Irrespective of whether you want to install custom ROMs or mods, having root access opens up a load of useful apps from the market...

I'll be rooting my G-Nexus when I get it and that's just so I can use certain apps... Hoping there will be a permanent root method soon as I can definitely see me running out of juice, at least to start with!

Ok got my phone yesterday. So far I am happy with it despite the few little problems i noticed:
1. Mic volume a bit low
2. Headphones are mediocre and pop when I unplug them (little pop sound from earpice speaker)
3. Pink spot in camera (visible on grey objects)
4. Pink upper corners of picture when taking a pic with flash on, in low light (autofocus, and try to take a long range pic in dark room).
5. Little yellow tint on screen when low brightess (visible on grey background).

Also it takes 3 hours to charge from 10% to 100%. Is this normal?

EDIT: check out my blog from my signature for a quick tutorial of how I flashed and rooted my phone. Super easy

what about 3:30?
That's about how long it takes for my S2. Standby (overnight) is ok, it consumes 2-3% in 12 hours.
But if I use the phone a bit, 30 minutes of wifi + 30 minutes of gaming, I lose ~20%-25%. Think I will get a bigger battery, let's say 2000mAh. Think it will charge for 4:30 hours then :/
My old X10 mini pro charged in 1:30 minutes from 0-100. And lasted about 4-5h of heavy use. (gaming and a bit of wifi).

Also plz check and tell me your charger specifications, maybe this guy whom I have got my phone from gave me a charger from a weaker Samsung model (by mistake).
