We have yet to see actual picture quality produced by lytia sensors yet. Of course I hope it will really live up to the hype (or even better) crosses fingers

Dont know if it is equal to pro-i or better. Some crazy ppl saying xiaomi plans to test 4/3. Too bizarre, it is 2x larger than 1". No phone has space for it.

Well of course they are going to. They are chasing trends. First there were megapixels, then night shots, then size of megapixels, now it's sensor size and who knows what tomorrow brings.

989 is nothing super-spectacular to begin with. It's awesome but its no game changer. What 989 actually did for the whole market is that it shifted mobile photography toward more natural look. Chinese are tonning down the saturation and they are not affraid of constrast no more. Its a good start. Now they just have to put a break on sharpening and HDR tone mapping and they would be really close.

excess of sharpening, bad colours etc are just option some brands choose. It is not hardware related. Imx555/557/703 are equal, still galaxy/xperia/iphone behave totally different.

Ultra bonus super urgent: Zack posted that someone posted on Baidu Tieba (then deleted) that: front design is same, 5000mAh/33W, all rear have new cmos, periscope is 4-9x from LG Innotek , 1v and 10v now and 5v later, no pro in 2023.

sony should just polish it way before giving devices to media. But obviously some techsites may have it already. I dont understand point of sending something inferior to retail devices. No website/youtuber should get it before late May.

Device with qualcomm chip + BT5.1 has been certified.

So this chipset is likely SD4Gen1. Then it's probably Ace IV, then another one wih Dimensity is more likely 10v

I hope the presentation is not full of guests again. Enough with youtube ppl (pro or not). Should be pure technical like XZP press.

They can process it black and white if they wish. Point is in marketing, since they market 1" sensors that means they are talking to prosumer photographers who are aware of what that 1" means. Because their target are people who are into photography beyond tap to snap means that they will not put up with radioactive HDR and other traits that come from consumer phones.

Not my point. Ppl wrongly think that going 1" is gonna change what google/apple/samsung have done lately. They think all this mess is "necessary " to overcome hardware capabilities, when it is not. Even if they had apsc sensor, photos would be look same, with same issues. Also they know youtubers dont know difference between texture and artificial sharpening.

Bonus:

Sharp r8 pro = 6,6" 2730 x 1260 igzo oled 1-240Hz, 8G2, 12/256GB, imx989 19mm f1.9, 5000mAh, jack, micro sd slot, IP68, Qi charging.

Sharp R8 = 8g2, 8/256GB, 50MP 1/1.56" 23mm + 13MP 1/3" 17mm, 6,4" igzo oled, 4570mAh, IP68, jack, micro sd.

Both 5 years of security patches ..

I wonder why doesn't Sony buy oled from Sharp.
Those sharp oled screens sounds fantastic.

Price ... Samsung and Boe can produce giant volume. Even LG can put up significant amount (below both still). Sharp cannot. But I wish Xperia had igzo panels as well.

37h left.

@spek, is there way to underclock soc without root access?
