I think the battery issue in Xperia 2012 those running on ST-Ericsson platform is an company experiment.
It seem like STMicro and Ericsson tuning something that much better in energy efficient, at least try.
The U8500 platform is first experiment of ultra-low watt core, that's provide same and steady power but saver more energy in overall operation plus fast charging solution.
Though, it not design for heavy-weight user at first anyway.

I think with S4 chip, 2000mAh battery should be enough. I got Arc S and to my knowledge it has 1500mAh. I'm a heavy user of 3G. I've noticed 3G consumes hell lot of battery but when I don't use a lot, it goes all good for a day. Sure 3000mAh is pretty good but still I think it's kind of too much at this point in the market. Again, not everybody is a true smartphone user. Most of the consumers are simple buyers who do not know about S4 or S3 chip. All they really care about the UI, Camera & GB.

Wow.... this is a good news.
I don't know why, but after trying Windows 7.5 Nokia Lumia 800, I'm so impressed with the speed of Windows 7.5 and hoping WP8 will be even better. I've never seen a smartphone with minimal hardware specs runs faster than high-end smartphones (Android & iOS).
Anyway, I'm still using my old Xperia Arc and hoping to upgrade to WP8 Sony's phone.

Your turn, Sony! Or, I'm sorry, you're too busy not taking care of your customers and forgetting the 2011 Xperia users. Thanks.

If it happens, it would be great! I do like the OS. But I doubt whether Microsoft would allow Sony to customize the OS with their own apps like a walkman app or an album app.
It would be good for Windows 8 as well. A Sony windows 8 phone might turn some heads. I think Sony should try windows again. SE tried and failed, but then, SE never had the brand recognition of Sony. Now that the Xperia line of phones are selling better than ever, it could be a good move
