I really don't know what else to do,it seems SE is not aware of the problem and they are not gonna fix it.
have u encountered any problems with ur halfly updated phone?
Mine sometimes acts strangely:
-2 times it lost SIM card and "insert SIM" message was shown.
-once my screen's backlight went dead with the keyboard light on!I fixed it by restarting the phone
-once the phone didn't go the standby screen and instead it asked me to select the writing language.after restarting it was fixed.
Has anyone else by any chance encountered such problems?
My k750i is halfly(95%) updated with R1AA ,EMMA 6,EU 1

what i've found with the 'r1aa008' firmware:
*fixed problem with phone would randomly reset itself or turn itself off.
*fixed problem with phone not recognising sim card (insert sim).
*faster menus.
*accesses aplications and programs faster (like java games).
*better mp3 quality and volume.
*bluetooth problems have been fixed.
*calls and voice mail etc sound clearer.
*slightly better screen display (sharper, brighter).
*rotating and zooming with camera faster.
*no hissing problems with any sound whatsoever.
*no computer conncetion or file manager problems.
*and NO bugs!!! yay

for sony ericsson
this firmware i have found to be absolutley perfect and i wait for sony ericsson to bring a firmware out which will keep the same but advance the phone rather than having to focus on fixing things, and since i have found no problems with this i hope they can make the next one, but to advance the phone without introducing anymore bugs. sorry for those of you who for some reason seem to have bugs even with this one.
the only BIG!!!! problem i have is that the 'r1n035' firmware completely stopped my microphone (sound recording in video or simply recording sound from entertainment) from working. just cannot seem to do it, when asked to, you just get very faint hissing sound whne playing back (not same as hissing problem as above). MUST MAKE CLEAR THAT THIS WAS NOT INTRODUCED IN THIS FIRMWARE, BUT IN LAST: R1N035. yes to me... me, me of all people, yay
*can no longer zoom in on saved pictures.

I can zoom in on old photos all right... please remember that your picture has to be horizontal!

I have to say that I have definately noticed far shorter battery life. Just by using media player for say 2-3 hours will drain my phone to nearly 70% by the end of the day

battery life shouldn't be influenced by firmware, or else I would be very surprised. My phone's battery life is the same after the upgrade - still one charge is enough for about a week... And I use my phone A LOT!

The update link is now showing on SE UK under the support tab (2.2.11b.exe). I tried to update my K750i, however I am told that there is no update available. I have call SE and was advised that there is still no update for Orange and that they are still awaiting Orange to give the green light for the firmware, however SE could provide no timescales. SE also mentioned that they belived this also applies to T-Mobile users.

Thanks for the fast replies!
@mwarner
I think the problem is with the dimensions of the picture. I have several jpgs that used to zoom (old FW) but no longer do, with dimensions of 1337x1859 and 792x1728 for example. Scrolling through in horizontal mode, the "1x" zoom icon simply disappears. I'll do some more investigating later if I get chance, see if I can find the limits.
@bbaev
I'm in horizontal mode, please see above. Also, get ready to be surprized!! - Look at the first post, under:
R1NA005
- Released on SEUS for the W800 on 15/10/05.
- Improved battery life over R1N035
@mongoose3800
Thanks for agreeing, at least I know I'm not going mad!!
Anyone else..?

No wonder that the battery life declined after update to R1AA08.
'Cause such things like:
- Rotating and zooming into pictures is faster and displays an egg timer whilst processing;
- Menu navigation (particularly when displaying thumbnail images) feels faster;
- External speaker sound level increased;
- Headphone sound level increased (by approximately 1 bar);
- Reduction of noise when playing low volume MP3s;
- Further Contrast / Gamma modifications have been made to the display to improve screen image quality;
- and other improvements;
just can't exist without extra power consumption.
Don't you think that every "faster", "louder", "brighter" etc. leads to considerable draining of power from battery?
I belive this is quite logically.

you're joking right?
firmware controls the lion's share of the phone's operation - how long and how frequently the network is polled, how loud something is played back, how processes are given clock cycles, ... and all of these things consume power.
