i dont kno much, but still g900 should have got 330mhz processor!!...208 is too less for a device being release in q2 or later of 2008.
it doesn't have that 208mHz processor.
otherwise g900 wouldn't have 5mp cam
Or pehaps G900 uses a dedicated GPU for the video encoding by which i have a string feeling that it is the ATi imageon 2300. since it's the only GPU besides PowerVR that can support Symbian system. Nvidias on the other hand don't support Symbian devices
@ares: i came to believe G900's CPU is even capable of VGA 15fps video besides QVGA 30Fps
and yes Ares is right no more than 4mp images are capable within the Nexperia Chip so forget about it
want some more proof? here:

Cut it guys. The G900 runs the same old Philips NXP4008 CPU as all other SE UIQ3 phones until further evidence proofs otherwise.
And the cam or WIFI b+g can not proof that a different chip is used, as the NXP4008 can be equipped with different subsystems to enable WIFI b+g connectivity and the likes.
See only this quote from Philips:
"The first product available in the new family is the Nexperia Cellular System Solution 9100. It combines the processing power of Philips' PNX4008 application processor engine - for sophisticated video, imaging, audio and 3D gaming functions - with the Nexperia Cellular System Solution 6120 telecom and BGB204 Bluetooth subsystems. Further connectivity and broadcast subsystems, such as Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/h, DVB T/H, NFC and GPS modules, can easily be added. "

Can anyone give me an idea why se keep rehashing the not-so-good,old uiq platform than introduce something newer.
Hardware is old (speaking in terms of mobile industry),so is software.
Because the majority of customers are not esato members. They don't read white papers to find out about processor chips and will not refrain from buying a phone because of "old" hardware.
It's a business and introducing new hardware is not always a goal in itself. Making money and keeping the stock holders happy is. The company will most often release products where balance between cost of development and sales benefit seems to be optimal.
When/if the masses cease buying the phones because of SE reusing hard- and software things would change by necessity.

@hansen: True but SE should not _solely_ rely on old hardware. No one would care if SE had a number of slower handsets in terms of CPU speeds next to some handsets with up-to-date CPU speeds in its current portfolio.
At the end of the day however, also Joe Average will notice that his 208Mhz-G900 has a more sluggish UI than his neighbours 330Mhz-N78 or 330Mhz-Moto Z8.
cheers,
hymie

The portfolio should contain also some spec-wise cutting edge offerings, something to aspire to and also spread brand glory onto mid-range models.
Agreed that in the end the user experience compared to other brands will make it nessecary to move on. I guess SE doesn't think this time has come yet, and that the G series will sell, which is the ultimate goal.

Isn't discussions about the thinking behind the portfolio for 2008 part of the topic?

I wouldn't have cared less if the current platform was good, but its far from it.
You're right it seems, they seem to care only for shareholders and making money these days.

i believe you should know who laffen is??? well, he talked with SE, and they said to him its an EMP processor, meaning, ITS NOT PHILIPS, its from Ericsson...get it??? and that is confirmed by the other clues: 5mp camera, diferent designation on the whitepaper, etc
Well, whatever, its really a lost case discussing with someone that prefers to go agains logic...
